I have been putting this review off because I have so much to say about how wonderful the InterContinental de la Ville was for me and my family. Lets starts with the location. The De La Ville is at the top of the Spanish Steps. It is in the heart of the city and staying here will make your life so much easier in Rome. Via Condotti with the world reknown shopping is a minute away, you can walk to Trevi Fountain or dine at any number of great restaurants that are yours for the choosing. And if you don not feel like going out to eat or miss the shops the hotel restaurant is delicious and the boutique downstairs has it all and does it all ... Femme Sistina the boutique has one-of-kind gifts, clothes, accessories and a signature perfume that I feel in love with immediately! (Love at first whiff) Plus Femme Sistina has a full service salon where you can wax, get a great blow dry or pedi-manicure that you didn´t have time to do before leaving on your vacation. The salon also boasts whos who clientele dating back from when Audry Hepburn to Nicole Kidman! They have stayed very current and are experts. But you will not find attitude here. The owner is so gracious and her staff lovely.
The service for InterContinental de la Ville is superior to other hotels. I have stayed at many 5 and 4 star hotels, but they cannot compete with InterContinental de la Ville´s service. My family felt like royalty. The staff knows your name and waiters remember the little things you like about your meals. No request or problem goes unsolved. The staff is always happy to direct you and fulfill every need. Warm and generous. Reception and staff are also fluent in multiple languages so there is never a difficulty there. Good sevice is often hard to find across the board at one hotel ... yet from the maid service to reception and I can easily say this is the best service I have had in a hotel in the US or abroad.
The rooms are very comfortable and have a first class decor and style. The bed and sheets are extremely comfortable and luxurious which after a long day of sight seeing and walking on cobblestoned Roman streets is a welcomed relief! Spacious and quiet. I love the window blinds the electronically operate on the exterior of your window being certain to block out any unwanted light in the morning. The Italian decor and furniture is rich too, but muted and practical too to make your stay relaxing.
One of the highlights is the fantastically delicious brunch they have available every morning. The selection is very diverse, delicious and provides abundant health conscious options. Numerous fruits, egg prepartion options, breads, cereals, juices, and beverages (lattes prepared to order -- I had my decaf latte witrh no problem) cakes, crepes, meats, cheese, even champagne! And many healty substitues such as rice milk ... the only one I have found offered at breakfast and I have been to three European countries this summer. My list of the men simple does not do it justice.
The common areas of the hotel, lobby, dining room, sitting areas, business center and rooftop longe with an incredible view of the city are all gorgeous and comfortable. A combination that had me looking forward to returning back to our hotel each night.
As for the cost. Your euros stretch very far for the accomodations themselves, unbeatable location, they-thought-of-everything-amenities and excellent service. I will not be staying anywhere else in Rome ... ever!
