My husband and i celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary in Rome and this hotel was recommended by many people on tripadvisor. With regard to the location i cannot disagree with them. It is central to many attractions - 5 mins from the Trevi Fountain and The Spanish Steps and in the evening within walking distance of many nice restaurants.
However, it is not cheap accomodation and the hotel decor has seen better days. Corridors, stairways, lifts were all tatty, scuffed with dirty carpets and the rooms were very small although rooms were always clean.
The concierge and bell-boy seem to have a few scams going and would immediately change in demenour from surly to helpful and would appear to regain their hearing if the rustle of euro's was heard. Prior to this they wont deign to look your way. The final stinger in the tail was that when we were leaving we asked for a taxi to be booked to take us to the airport. The official roman taxis (white with a burgundy crest on the door) charge a flat fee of 40 euro from airport to within the walled city of rome and vice versa. Stupidly we thought this was what would be ordered but unfortunately it was another of their little scams. The taxi that arrived was not a taxi - no taxi plates or meter in evidence- it was a beaten up van and the driver wanted 50 euros. We had cut our timing short and did not have time to get another taxi so unfortunately we were stung. Together with all the other small annoyances this left a nasty taste in our mouth and soured the end of what had been a fantastic holiday. So - would i recommend the hotel? as i said for position it cannot be faulted but it could stop taking advantage of its guests and be so much better.
