This hotel was chosen, to be honest, based on it's location and reasonably good reviews on both this site and hotels.com.
Sadly, I think it is not as nice as many seem to be saying.
We did get reasonably helpful service by the desk, and the breakfast, while not fantastic, was ok, and of course it's included, and so that's good. The lobby has been renovated and is nicely decorated and somewhat elegant. However, the halls/elevator/and rooms themselves need serious overhaul. I did not find the bed uncomfortable, but it was on the hard side.
Otherwise, the rooms have kind of tired old, somewhat wornout furniture. I was expecting more for the price, and I think that this hotel would be MUCH nicer if they invested in fixing up the rooms a bit. The bathroom was fine, no complaints there, though it was not one of the snazzy new modern ones.
Mainly, I think the question is whether the good location matters that much. Yes, it's near the trevi fountain, and spanish steps - but once you have seen them, then what? If you choose a hotel that is not right near such tourist hotspots, you might get a better hotel for the money than if you choose this one.
