Just returned from our first trip to Rome. The Hotel Dei Borgogni was a great pick. The location was extremely convenient for walking to all of the sights and the staff was excellent. The hotel is a bit dated from a decor standpoint but the bathrooms were completely updated and well appointed. We traveled with our teenage son and this is one of the few hotels with a 'triple room' option. A very nice continental breakfast was included. We would stay there again.

We tried to find a centrally-located, well-priced smaller hotel, for sightseeing in Rome with our two kids (13 & 10). Location was terrific, but that was about it. Rooms were shabby and worn, mattresses and tiny beds uncomfortable, Looked like the place needed a serious makeover. Air conditioning was available, but minimal. Some investment, care and style could make this great, but there just wasn't anything I could like about it.

Travelling alone with my 8 year old son, I wanted to be in a small hotel where we would be known and recognized. I was not disappointed. The staff were exceptionally kind to both of us, arranging for drivers to Pompeii and extra room keys without complaint. The location is superb -- a quiet, though uninteresting, street within an easy walk of Piazza del Spagna and the Trevi. Our room was cool, clean, and neatly appointed. Though small by American standards, we never felt cramped or uncomfortable. Compared to other hotels in Rome at this price point, like the Locarno, the Dei Borgononi stands up extremely well. (The Locarno was miserable in comparison.) I would happily stay here again.

We stayed here for 6 nights and it was lovely! The staff at this hotel are some of the sweetest and most polite i have ever encountered, they were only too happy to organise us taxi's and reservations and even walked us to some of the trickier to locate restaurants they recommended (which were also lovely!) they also get to know their residents very well and you feel sad leaving them when you have to go! Our two rooms were at different ends of the corridor but were very cosy and clean. The hotel is also a very short distance from the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Via De Condotti, Pantheon and many of the beautiful Piazzas. I would definently reccomend this hotel to anyone going to Rome.
