Service Issues:

We informed the front desk both the night before and the day of our departure that we would need a taxi for the airport and requested that one be arranged both before we arrived at the the hotel and on the morning of our departure. None was arranged by the hotel, despite at least two requests.

In addition, there was a lack of follow up with the concierge regarding the status of our request for restaurant reservations - both requested via email before we arrived and at the time we arrived. The hotel simply failed to attend to our request promptly.

Room deficiencies:

I take hot water for granted, I suppose, especially when staying in a five star hotel. There was no hot water at all in our room upon arrival. This was unfortunate because we really wanted a hot shower when we arrived after walking around Rome for hours. The hotel fixed it for the next day. I also expect that air conditioning operate if provided in a five star hotel room. The air conditioning did not work properly in our bedroom, which made it difficult for us to sleep. Rome can and was during our stay hot.

Despite bringing these shortcomings to the hotel, the hotel simply apologized.

Five of us stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate our daughter's Birthday. A whistle stop tour it was indeed. We arrived very late at night but received a warm welcome. Very old Italian palatial style buildings & decor, interesting rooms where staff had placed a bottle of bubbly on arrival in daughter's room to celebrate. All our rooms were close together. Great breakfasts, location superb- just near the Spanish Steps and for shops, river Tiber, several monuments and the metro . Expensive, yes, being next to Via Condottii and its inimitable style and shops to be expected I guess but we were paying for the location which was brilliant for us in the few days we had to get around quickly and easily. Helpful staff too who found a restaurant one evening for a celebration plus the concierge had also pre-booked tickets to the Coloseo to save queuing on Sunday morning. We saw a lot, had a good flavour of the city with lots of time to explore, eat, soak up the sun and could return at night to a great place to sleep.

I visited Rome on a business trip and decided to stay at this hotel due to its location.
I got a good rate and was only staying for one night.
The first impression is that this is a very old hotel, however it is well maintained.
It feels like a palace with wonderful furniture from a different era.
The room we stayed was spacious, but the carpets and furniture was clearly very old.
The carpets had a couple of stains and the furniture was in average condition.
The bathrooms was very nice, since it had probably been updated.
Besides the low pressure water of the tolet, everything worked wonderfully.
The TV set, even though it was flat screen, was kind of small for the size of the room.
Breakfast was very nice, especially sitting outside with nice weather.
My only complaint was the noise of the aircondition unit that kept me from enjoying my sleep.
On a positive note, the staff of the hotel was fantastic. They helped my find a flight and the next day, when I could not reach someone at the airport in order to make my travel arrangements.
Next time I visit Rome, I will stay in this hotel, provided they give me a room with no AC noice !

We stayed in a suite at the renovated, 4th floor of the hotel, and have only good things to say about the property. Staff was efficient and kind, not overly friendly, but good overall. Our suite was spacious for central Rome, pretty, with TVs in the living room, bedroom and bathroom, and equiped with everything one might need, there are some finishing touches, minor details really, that they have not been fixes very well, but this is ok, and happens most of the time in hotels. We saw also a unrenovated room, and it seemed acceptable, not really filthy and old, although the renovated floor was quite superior to the other ones. Breakfast was ok, good for a small hotel, but it could have had more items. The location is excellent for visiting the center of Rome.
