“good choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 21, 2012

We stayed at this hotel for ten nights during our trip to Rome. Our room was very comfortable and nicely decorated. There was plenty of space to hang our clothes and store other belongings in drawers. Even though this hotel is located near a busy intersection, we heard very little of the traffic noise unless we opened a window. The room also had a safe and thermostat control, four chairs and a desk. The nearest metro stop is about a block away on the "B" line. That will take you directly to the Colosseum and Forum. The Termini train station is about four blocks away. There are several restaurants close to the hotel. Others are a longer walk. The lounge had beverages at reasonable prices and in the late afternoon snacks were also available. The breakfast room had a nice buffet of choices such as scrambled or hard boiled eggs, bacon and sausages, ham, cheese, salami, fresh fruit, cereals, bread and rolls and several types of pastries. The tables had tablecloths and the dishes were china. A server brought whatever coffee you ordered. The front desk staff was always happy to answer any questions that you might have. Some spoke better English than others. It helps to know a few words in Italian.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the third or higher floor.

“American Travelers in Italy - finding a hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

This hotel was excellent. It was quaint (loved the old-fashion elevator), friendly, accessible to the public transportation (train/bus station just a few blocks away). Take the train straight from the airport. The front desk was very helpful and spoke English since we didn't speak Italian. They gave us places to go for a quick bite or nice dinner out and recommended us taking the train to get to our cruise ship (saved us a few dollars on that one). The hotel also had a small bar area which was much less expensive than the local cafes and offered complimentary appetizers and snacks. It was a nice place to relax for an hour or so before heading to the room. The room was spacious, beautiful and clean. Our room was complete with hardwood floors, canopy bed, desk sitting area as well as a large bathroom with all the comforts of home. Best of all was the complimentary breakfast buffet - amazing! Italian delights in meats, vegetables, cheeses and pastries as well as the tradiditional eggs, potatoes, cereal, juice. I enjoyed my cappuccino each morning. Everyone was so friendly and the location close to transporation allowed us to get to all the sights or just take a leisurely walk. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to all.

Room Tip: just note, walls may seem a little thin at times with those walking in the halls--but wonderful hote...

“Loved this hotel so much!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

We booked this hotel for 1 night per cruise and really was not expecting very much. We booked a deluxe and the room was very charming and beautiful. We had a sofa, 2 chairs and an old fashioned desk. The bathroom was large and had a bidet. I loved the toiletries and the cute polka dot slippers. The front desk was very helpful and the main lobby filled with comfortable and attractive seating. The included breakfast was served in a very pleasant dining room and was delicious. The elevator was really old fashioned but worked very well. It had room for 2 people and luggage. The location is within walking distance to the train station, but it would be a bit far to pull luggage for me. I would definitely stay here again. It was fantastic!

“Excellent stay in Rome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

I chose this hotel for a 3 night stay in Rome after the positive reviews on tripadvisor, I am happy to say I wasn't disappointed.

Similar to many of the other reviews I found the hotel to be spotlessly clean, our room was on the 4th floor and was spacious, had a good sized bathroom and was very comfortable. It was perfect to return to after a long day of sightseeing in Rome.

The staff were all very polite and helpful. The breakfast had a very good choice of continental and some hot foods, I particularly liked the homemade cake every day - was always yummy!

The bar area is comfortable and again in immaculate condition, we found it relaxing to just sit and have a drink in the evening and plan our next day wandering around Rome.

The location was good as the metro stop is just round the corner from the hotel entrance so not very far to walk with your luggage if you get the metro from Termini. We walked to a lot of the famous sights in Rome from the hotel but it is very easy and inexpensive to use the metro as well.

One thing we really liked was the pizza kiosk just opposite the metro station subway entrance, amazingly good pizza slices for only a few euros, perfect for a quick snack before going out.

All in all I would stay here again if we came back to Rome, well done to all the staff at Hotel Canada for making it a very pleasant place to stay.

“A gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2012

My wife and I needed a hotel for one night in Rome before departing for a cruise mid-October. Important criteria was that it be clean and in close proximity to the Roma Termini. We took the Leonardo Express train from the airport (EU14, about 30 min) and wanted to take the train next day to Civitavecchia (non-stop, about 40 mins., EU14.50 pp). Best Western Hotel Canada Rome seemed to fit the bill. The hotel is about a 10 minute walk from the station (exit the terminal at Via Marsala, walk a block north to Via Vencenza and then 4 blocks east to the hotel). It doesn't have the grandest entrance so look closely for it. The front desk staff was extremely friendly and welcoming after a long plane ride. Our room was on the second floor and it was a pleasant surprise. Lots of "old-world charm". You go through a sitting area before entering the bedroom. Bed was very comfortable. Bathroom was spacious and well appointed. Both rooms were very clean. Our room was close to the corner facing a main road but was quiet. We used both the safe and internet service. Had a nice breakfast with a decent selection. Good location extended to proximity to all the usual tourist sites, although I would recommend a taxi if going to the Vatican. We were easily able to walk to the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. There are several good restaurants within a block or two of the hotel - just ask the front desk for recommendations (Mama Rosario comes to mind).

All in all, we had a very enjoyable night at the Best Western Hotel Canada Rome and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it or stay there again. Price was reasonable and the quality is there.

Room Tip: We don't think there is a bad room. We were on second floor facing Via Vincenza but close to cor...
