We spent 9 nights at this little gem and was an absolute bargin.

We figured booking a motel in Rome over christmas would be difficult and pricey but when we found this place for only ~650 euros for 9 nights we were wrapt.

It is a typical Best Western 3star motel, with nice clean, simple rooms, ours of reasonable size but not huge.
The staff were helpful and friendly, and the location was good, close to termini and supermarkets etc. and had decent buffet breakfast spread which was great to energise for the day.

The best thing was the price, at approx 72 euros per night, it was an absolute bargin

Having read some of the rather damning reviews about this hotel i went with an open mind, after all not everyone who stays somewhere and has a good time bothers to write a review of a place (me included). I booked a double upgraded room b&b for myself and my mum (we got twin beds which was a relief!) for the weekend just gone and we couldn't have found a better hotel. The room was lovely - clean, tidy, well presented and the bathroom was ideal - plenty of towels, toiletries etc etc. It was really easy to find - just 5 mins walk from the Termini train station and less than 3 mins from the Linea B metro- C pretorio. The check in was fast and efficient - we arrived at the hotel at around 12 midday and check in is meant to be from 2 pm so we were very pleased. The room didn't have tea/coffee facilities but the guest directory stated that this could be organised for free from reception which we did. A very helpful gentleman brought us 2 cups, a kettle, sugar, teabags, milk and coffee on a tray. One early problem which was rectified within minutes was that the safety deposit box didn't work properly. An engineer sorted this immediately. The hotel is in a quiet location - our room, 205, was at the front of the hotel and we weren't woken at all. Buffet style breakfast was more than adequate - served from 7-10am. Plenty of choice both at 7am and after 9am. The breakfast area was light and pleasantly decorated. Check-out was also pleasant and efficient. A quick check of their guest book indicated that most people loved their stay at this hotel. We paid £128 for 2 nights and couldn't have been happier. Yes, there were many cheaper places to stay and more pricey places but having stayed at another Best Western hotel 3 years ago in Milan I thought it would be good - I was not one bit disappointed. This is a great well placed hotel to enjoy Rome.

Nice hotel, close to some of the main attractions of Rome also close to two supermarkets. The rooms had a nice decor and the ensuite was clean. You could get internet on your tv at a minimal cost which was great. Breakfast was included and had quite a selection. A good hotel.

We came down from Milan to visit some friends who live in Rome. We just needed a nice clean place to stay that was near Termini (the main train station) so we could get around the city easily. We also met up with some other friends here, so they stayed here too.

Reception booked us in quickly and easily. They gave us a little key card and a little key. We all went to the elevators to go up to our rooms.

Well.... first we had to wait for the guy who was using both elevators to unload what looked like all the linen in the hotel as well as what appeared to be all the garbage as well.

Very slowly. Finally, he finished unloading enough that we were able to push the garbage bags aside and get into the elevator.

The hallways on each floor were the same: carpet that had been vacuumed, but was still dirty. Molding that was new, but falling off. Paint that wasn't old, but no scratches were covered up, so it looks, well, just kind of cheap.

The hallways are DARK. Little motion detectors set off the hallway lights while you walk down them. OK, that's weird, but I'm ok with it.

We got in the room and it was dark.... and none of the lights worked. Luckily, the maid was out in the hall and explained that we had to stick this little key into this hole in the wall to enable all the lights. (Gee, that would have been nice to know ahead of time)

Once we got in, the room was nice and clean. I had read on one of the reviews here that the beds were hard. (which I like). Wow, they sure weren't kidding!. Oddly, they weren't evenly hard... Oooohhh, it was because we actually were on two twin beds that were pushed together and held there with the sheets. Nice.

I work over the internet, so the first thing I did was to pop that network cable in and check my.... oops, no connection. I read the little instructions, "turn on the TV and choose internet", ok, I can do that.... oops... I can't. Power doesn't do anything. After pounding on the remote for a while I get about 10 TV channels, but nothing else.

Pretty soon I called the front desk and was told I needed a code. So, I paid 10 euro and got a few letters and a number to enter.... somewhere, they just kept telling me it will be "right there". OK, it wasn't. After about 20 minutes I finally had them send someone up. About 30 minutes later he arrived - and couldn't fix it. He finally said, I'll be back in 2 minutes.

It wasn't until I told the receptionist to make me a reservation at a different hotel and that I wasn't paying for current day that I actually got service. Suddenly the, "I'm sorry sir, but I've called the main office in Milan and only got a busy signal - it's not my fault", changed to "Here's a key to a new room with Internet that works."

total of 3 hours of begging.

Other than that:
the shower head kept falling off on me, but the pressure was great.

The bright lights wouldn't turn off in our entry-way... annoying.

The temperature in our room was great, but my friends had to move because their heater was stuck on. (Oh, and the water coming from their faucet suddenly turned brown. Nice)

All in all:
Location: decent
Cleanliness: decent
Responsiveness: decent

The brown water thing was kind of gross. The internet thing was extremely annoying. The twin beds pushed together (in our new room I had to do it myself!) odd.

I'd never recommend it. There are about 100 hotels in the area, find a different one.

  • Liked — The coffee was ok
  • Disliked — how something seemed to go wrong so often that we no longer had any expectations at all.

We stayed here for four nights. Cost 420 euro including buffet breakfast which is available from 7 - 10 a.m...great food and lovely range of coffee/teas...orange juice is awful though!
For Irish guests reading this, the sausages at breakfast are the german variety and not the galtee type!! and the egg is hot but more like a scrambled omlette..also cake and pastries a little odd at 7a.m but as they say " when in Rome" .....so go ahead and eat them...delicious....
Asked for room with terrace when I booked with Booking.com and was given one on arrival. Room was on 6th floor, quiet street below..Check in was fast and smooth. When guests asked advice on excursions/restaurants etc they got the information from staff at front desk. Lots of maps and leaflets lying around anyway.

Hotel is more like a B&B. It is old in places if you take the time to look around , but too much to see and do in Rome to be concerned as to the appearance of the paintwork!!

We ate breakfast at 7 a.m and left hotel each day at 8.30 a.m we returned at 1a.m each morning!!!! so not much time spent there.
Hotel is a few streets from Termini Station so very handy for the Ryanair Terravision bus to and from the airport.

Didn't find the area near Termini to be dangerous at night and it is very busy with tourists throughout the day. Plenty of police about anyway. Hotel room had bath and shower , the room was cleaned each day, sheets changed and toiletries replaced.
Bath was fab for a soak after long day walking about.

Hot water was always available and shower was great.
Room had mini bar...we didn't like that , as it was open when we arrived and two or four items missing, we went down and got reception to make a note of it. It was bothering us the whole stay that we would be charged for stuff we didn't take, so make a check when you arrive and sort it out with staff.

Air conditioner was noisey and when we rang down to reception at 1.30.am to ask them to switch it off and they did right away.

The old man on night reception is gruff and moody ,but that is just his personality, depends on how you approach him I guess.
He got us a kettle and teabags (couldn't find any milk!) at 1.30 a.m when we came in from walking around and we had nice cup of tea before sleeping!!! So he not bad in the end!!

In the room service book it says service available 24 hours a day , but not so, kitchen and bar close at 11.30/midnight.
A good mix of ages and nationalities staying at hotel. Taxi can be called from front desk and is 8 to 10 euro to get to Trevi Fountain or Piazza Navona...we did this on one evening when it was pouring rain.....
We walked the hotel stairs one day just to see the other corridors and yes, I think they were renovated, new doors ,carpets etc,,
Overall well worth the money for what we got, basic ,clean and did the job.. I would not have been happy to pay anymore than we did.
Reception staff in daytime may need a course on customer relations and be a little more welcoming and chatty.
Breakfast staff could teach them a thing or two as they were excellent, particularly the young lad with spiky gelled hair...so nice!! Do stay at this hotel , it's not bad at all!!.

  • Liked — Breakfast!!!!!!!!!!!!! cute guy in breakfast room!!! room with terrace..comfy bed....quiet room..location to Termini!
  • Disliked — Room was small..had to climb over bed to get to other side of room!! rude reception female staff member.
