From the moment we arrived the staff were so friendly and helpful. Giving invaluable travel / sightseeing advice that made our stay so much easier. (When you know how to get around a strange city to see the things you want, it makes it so much more pleasureable). A small but friendly / personal Hotel. The room was large enough and immaculatly clean. There was a short problem with the water, but this was quickly resolved and compensated with a bottle of champagne. Breakfast was served over 3 hours so there was no mad rush in the morning. Rooms and en-suite were cleaned everyday. Location is 10 mins walk to Termini - fantastic for all bus, Metro & rail links. Overall a wonderful 4 days made better by the can do attitude of the staff - hope they read this and realise what a great service they provide.
If we go to Rome again I will look no further than The Galileo Hotel for our stay. Dave & Bev McBride

We stayed at this hotel in December '04, having been secured a room by an airport travel agent once our plane landed. The hotel is nothing luxurious, but it's comfortable for a short stay. The clerk spoke English. Breakfast was free every morning (bread, jam, cheese, cold meats, coffee, juice, etc.). The room was small but clean and had a safe inside the wardrobe. There is a VERY small elevator (can fit two people at a time or so), but the bellhops are nice enough to carry your bags up the steps if the elevator is full.

Perhaps the best aspects of this hotel were the price and the location; the price is reasonable considering that your'e in Europe and so central to the train station. The station is only about a 10-minute walk, and other sites of interest are very close-by. (There are some Roman baths being excavated, for instance, on the way to the train station within about a five-minute walk from the hotel.)

What I didn't like about the place is that it was rather dark and outdated-looking, and the bathrooms were poorly designed. Plus, if you're not used to washing with a detachable showerhead, you just might need to shower with help or the bathroom will be flooded!

All in all, I would stay here again if I had to, but if I could find another clean place for a similar price, I'd probably check out something else. If you're out of options though, or are just looking to save on lodging to use your money on other things during the trip, this isn't a bad choice.

  • Liked — Good price for the location
  • Disliked — Outdated look, poorly designed bathrooms

I booked this hotel thinking it was a four star hotel, that’s how expedia rates it. I should have done some research but it was a last minute thing. It was a 3 star hotel by its standards. I stayed for two nights. The room was well furnished but small. There was a tiny shower cubical that my husband could hardly fit into. Our double bed was two single beds pushed together with a flat sheet thrown over it to cover that fact. During the night the beds kept separating making it two very uncomfortable nights. The breakfast, if you don’t eat meat, is not for you. We don’t eat meet so my husband and I could only eat some slices of cheese, bread and butter! Not a very filling breakfast!!! On the plus side they did have freshly squeezed orange juice! I can’t comment on any other meals as we only had a B&B. The second lift was being repaired, so every time I stepped out of the lift onto our floor, which was on the top floor, bits of debris would fall into my hair. The good thing about this hotel was that it’s in a very good location, very close to the termini (metro). There are some good shops and restaurants around, even a kebab shop, if you like them!!! Overall, I guess this is an ok hotel for a 3 star; it’s in a great location and it’s a good hotel for those who want to use it for a base to travel around Rome.

  • Liked — the location was perfect!

My sister and I stayed here for two nights and found it to be clean and convenient to the major sights. About two blocks down on the same side of the street was a wonderful little restaurant I would highly recommend. I would stay here again given the price, or you could pay three times as much and get the Hilton.

We had three days at this hotel in Oct 2006.

Yes, the room was small, but the accomodation was very comfortable, with everything clean and tidy. It is a typical 3 star hotel in Rome, and I would recommend it as such. The staff were extremely helpful with info for tourists, and the location of the hotel was quiet, yet very convenient to rail and bus transport.

Two typically Italian restaurants were avail within the same block, and the food was excellent, and the prices great. A pharmacia, and supermarket were within 5 mins walk.

Overall, an excellent, well priced place to stay.
