Even the very impressive facade of the hotel is of a grand style of years gone by but when you enter and are welcomed by Sr. Bonacini who is the very example of the perfect Concierge, you feel very much at home. The other members of the front office/concierge staff, Corinna and Claudio are extremely helpful and friendly (their English is perfect, one having an Irish mother and the other a mother from the north of England). We were informed that the hotel used to be a museum and that it noticeable by the resplendant architecture of all the foyer area, corridors and stairs. The lift, however, is obviously from another age but fun to ride in.
The rooms/suites have been excellently furnished, mostly in white including the sofas and large armchairs. The bathrooms have every possible amenity you could ask for and are finished in marble. We had some excellent nights sleep but to ensure this always try to reserve accommodation on the side of the hotel that overlooks the Swiss Embassy.
Breakfast was taken outside on a largish terrace, served buffet style but you can always ask for any special eggs etc. Only one word of warning, watch out for the pigeons, they are very tame and exceedingly cheeky and hungry, so be careful they don't fly off with your croissants!!
Another advantage we were offered was free internet which meant we could keep up with our e-mails.
It was obvious to us that the management and staff were most dedicated to detail knowing, on the morning of a birthday, to send a card to the room and to give some cheerful greetings during the day.
They also have a beautiful restaurant with a small and cosy cocktail lounge. Worth a try.
As fellow hoteliers we can highly recommend the Majestic Hotel for excellent friendly and professional service, perfect accommodation and an ideal location. We will certainly use this hotel whenever we are back in Rome.
