The Hotel Majestic Roma is located on Via Veneto, a reasonable walk to both the Borghese Gallery and the Barberini metro stop. The food establishments that line the Via Veneto are geared towards tourists, so you may want to walk south to find a delicious and well-priced meal.
The exterior of the hotel as well as the decor inside connotes a grandeur of time gone by. You definitely feel like you have stepped back a century or two by the look of the sweeping staircase, rods that hold the rugs in place on each step and oversized window treatments that pool on the floor. This hotel also follows the old-fashioned practice of having you drop off and pick up your keys every time you enter and leave the hotel. (I was always curious how these places validate that you are, in fact, who you say you are.)
The staff was always civil and pleasant, but our room's furnishings were pretty bizarre. The entire room was a blinding white, except for the blood red curtains. They kept out the light really well in the mornings though. The room was a decent size and we were greeted with a plate of fresh fruit, which was quite welcome.
There was a lovely breakfast on the patio included in our reservation. It had the usual coffee, pastries, eggs, bacon, yogurt, juices, etc. I think there are two types of breakfasts you can book, either the continental version or the heartier one.
Overall, it was a pleasant stay at the Hotel Majestic Roma, but nothing that knocked your socks off
