Hotel Doria was a great hotel! The location was great and was in walking distance to everything!

It is with in 5 mins walking distance from the station.

On your first day get a roma pass this will give u free metro and bus rides for a few days also 2 free entry to any musseum of your choice apart from the vatican. Rome is very easy to get around and see, make sure you have comfurtable shoes on as like us we walked almost every where.

The hotel is fantastic, its a small room but enough for a few nights! Towels are very thin so bring your own although saying that my partner found them ok! The breakfast in the morning is very nice too! At night time if you would like to chill in your room bring some entrtainment i.e cards, dvd player, book as the tv all the channels were if italian which is the only fault in the hotel but half the time we were too tired to watch tv anyway!!!

Overall Lovely , friendly and great location!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hotel Doria was a pleasure to stay in for our week long holiday to Rome. We had a double room for the two of us. Here are the key points:

Friendly staff always ready with a smile
Towels (2 hand, 2 body) changed daily. The towels are thin but work fine.
Bed linen changed once during the week
WiFi is available for an additional fee
Shower was small, about 3/4 the size of a standard UK shower cubicle.
Room and en-suite cleaned daily
Double bed was two singles pushed together
Breakfast (7.30 to 9.30am) was standard continental including croissants, rolls, yogurts, ham, cheeses, cereal, juice, coffee, etc.
Air conditioned room
TV in room with Italian channels only
Mini bar fridge with space for your own drinks
Small room safe with user-set combination lock (about A5 size)
7 minutes walk from Termini station

You can see the Colosseum from the roof terrace!

Price: NOK 2.600 (4 nights incl. breakfast)

Located by Santa Maria Maggiore, wich is about 5 min. walk from Termini station, it's not the fanciest area in Rome, but that's reflected in the price. On the other hand, Rome city center is not a big area so all major sights are within walking distance. And of course with Termini close by, cheap public transportation is easy accessable.

Standard room; very well soundproofed, A/C, minibar, no international news channels on the tv.

Standard continental breakfast, also bread, salami, cheese. Dining area at nice top floor terrace.

Polite staff, area for baggage storage, small elevator.

I stayed at Hotel Doria for 5 nights in July 2009. The hotel is in a really great location. The staff was super friendly and chatty. The breakfast room was nice. I just had cereal, juice and apple sauce. The waitress in the breakfast room was super nice. The elevator is incredibly small that I could barely fit me and my one suitcase.

My room was ok. I had a single room that I mainly used for sleeping, bathing and keeping my luggage. The floor had carpeting. My view from the window was of a garden and another building. The room had a nice twin size bed, a desk with a television on top, a mini bar underneath the desk, and a spacious closet with a small safe inside of it. Whenever I wanted to recharge my cellphone and camera battery, I had to leave the light switch on because the power outlet didn't work without it on.

The bathroom didn't have a bidet but that wasn't my biggest problem with the bathroom. My biggest problem with the bathroom was the mold and stains in the toilet. It was so gross. There was mold in the shower too. The shower was somewhat spacious than other hotels I have been to in Italy. The other reviewers on here were right about the towels. The hotel offered 3 towels. One was a regular hand towel. The other two were different from towels that I've seen and used. One was like table cloth and the other had a checkered texture kind of like a breakfast table cloth. But all the towels were clean and did the job of drying. The bathroom was supplied with 4 shampoo packets, 2 shower caps, and 2 small bars of soap.

This hotel was in a great location, right beside Santa Maria Maggiore and about 5 minutes walk to Termini. It is a small hotel right on the busy Via Merulana, but despite the street noise, shutters and glass blocked out the noise from the street at night. The room was reasonably small and the towels were bizarre ( yes like cardboard) but effective. Breakfast was pleasant and the roof top garden even has a veiw of the colloseum in the distance . Yes the chocolate is to be recommended. There is also a green information kiosk to the left of Santa Maria Maggiore which was useful for purchasing Roma Pass and other tourist help. ( 1-2 minutes walk depending how confident you are crossing the street! ) Also only a couple of minutes to a supermarket for water and snacks.
Staff at the desk were generally friendly and somewhat helpful. My only complaint was that they needed a bit of prompting to phone or take some initiative. For example we came from the airport on a shuttle bus. We asked to man behind the desk to rebook a return pick up. The guy at the desk told us it was best to do it from Termini train station and didn't seem keen to phone them. However we couldn't find the shuttle office so ended up waiting in the baggage drop of for well over an hour to deposit our bags on the day we were flying out. Plus we lost precious hours on our last day which wouldn't have happened if they had booked the shuttle and looked after our bags.
Still, a great hotel though
