What a fantastic hotel.

The rooms were great. Really clean and tidy. Free breakfast included and if its nice weather you can sit out on the superb terrace and enjoy a spectacular view of the Colosseum and Rome.

The most important point to mention however was the beautiful hospitality that we encountered. The staff were so polite and accommodating.

What more can I say. Oh, the LOCATION!!! One of the best you can get in Rome. Right near Termini station, which leads you to all the main attractions of Rome. And the price of course. Very reasonable!!!

YOU WOULD BE CRAZY not to choose this hotel to stay at!!!

I just had to write a review (even though its 2 years later) I stayed in this hotel in Feb 2006 for 5 nights.
I have to say it is a lovely 'little' hotel. The rooms are basic but comfortable and clean. The bathroom is tiny but manageable... and the shower is even tinier!!! but it all adds to the charm.
The staff were lovely and helpful.
The hotel is located within an easy walk to nearly all the usual attractions, Colleseum, Pallintine Hill, Trevi Fountain etc.. and its not far from the main train station either which is great.
The Theatre is not far from here and although it doesnt look like much from the outside (grey concrete) it is absolutely amazing on the inside... although my italy is only very basic and i didnt really understand the opera but it was an experience!! Me and my partner went there as a valentines treat... after he proposed in our room in Hotel Doria... yes i know all the lovely scenic places and he chose the hotel!!! haha! (took a while to get the nerve up!) but even that was lovely cos the staff were so sweet treatting us like royality for the rest of the evening.
There is a cafe around the corner and oh boy!! they do the most fabulous pastries and Gelatis i have ever had... am glad only went in on the last day other wise would not have fit back on the plane.
All in all it is a lovely little hotel and is convenient to all the sights.
I would recommend it.

My husband and I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in November 2007. I should have written this review a little earlier, sorry. Here are some pictures, enjoy!

Here is how I would break it down:

GOOD:

* Location, very close to the main station
* Good service
* Nice breakfast, which we really enjoyed
* Rooms were nice and sufficient
* The beautiful church across the street
* There is a grocery store right around the corner next to the make-up store. You have to go down the stair but its got everything.

NOT SO GOOD (I don’t want to say bad because I don’t think it was bad)

* Street noise, but from what I hear that’s for most hotels in Rome
* Towels were very thin, not sure if they even were towels
* Shower was very small but useable
* Tiny elevator so get ready to walk up those stairs.

The question is, would I stay at Hotel Doria again? Probably yes I would.
(A word of advice, don’ bother eating at the restaurant that is facing the church, it’s overpriced. After being in Italy for over a week that was the only overpriced meal we had, and it wasn’t that good).

The Hotel was in a very good location , close to termini and in walking distance to all the major attractions.

We had read some reviews about the hotel before we left and all the coments on the bathrooms are true!

However the hotel is in an old 1880's building as are most in this area and i suppose most of the hotels are similar.Saying that the hotel was very clean if a little dated, but we hadnt paid lots of money so I guess you get what you pay for.

The hotel served as a good base to visit Rome and the city is Fantastic .all the attractions are well priced but you do get the felling that the tourist is getting ripped off by restaurants , bars etc.

It does get a bit tedious paying stupid prices for a couple of beers!

The best quality and priced meal we had was in a chinese restuarant !

However much money you thought you would think you need to take ....... double it , As time there passed we did get the knack of finding more sensibly priced food and drink .

We found out about a pass you can buy that gains you entrance to all the attractions as well as transport but if was too late for us.This maybe worth investigating.

From the airport ,make sure if you are using a taxi that you get an official roma taxi which charge 30 euro's from airport to rome. we got stung on the way in 60 euro's but paid 30 on the way back.

would recommend Rome , a fantastic place , the history is something else , but beware its london on speed !
