A gem of a hotel. Convenient location - walking distance from Termini Train Station & also a metro stop. I've read that the area can be seedy, but I thought it was fine. I never heard any noise & I never saw any "bad types". In fact, there are consulates around the hotel area & there are soldiers placed on most street corners, creating a feeling of safety. The room was moderate size (maybe a bit tight for a couple, but I could have had a single size room, not double.....not sure), neat, modern, comfortable, clean & quiet. Windows were double glazed. Air con worked well. Staff were always very friendly & helpful. Breakfast was typical of european hotels - simple but plentiful. Free computer access in lobby. Hotel allowed me to check in early at about 8:30am. Highly recommended.

The hotel is within walking distance of the termini which makes it handy to get around and you are also close to metro stops but it you want to be in the heart of the action you might find the hotel a bit remote.

The hotel is clean and the staff were helpful and friendly.

The rooms were also clean and comfortable but a little on the small side. We booked a room with a spa bath which was lovely after walking miles seeing the sites!

Breakfast is standard continental fare and you can help yourself. Normal selection of pastries, muffins, cereal, meats, cheeses etc..

We ate in the hotel restaurant on night which was very plesent and perfectly acceptable if you've had a long day and can't face going out.

Some people have commented on the area being a little 'seedy'. Yes there is an adult cinema and strip bar in the next street but being in mind we walked past the strip club 3 times before even noticing it was there it is certainly not a seedy as people have made out.

The hotel was a bit on the pricey side for what you got but that seems to be par for the course in Rome.

On the whole a good hotel that I would have no objections staying in again.

I stayed three nights at Hotel Art Deco in a single room, as I was travelling alone. When travelling alone, one gets used to being accommodated in shoebox sized rooms. To my great pleasure, my room at Hotel Art Deco was a fair size, considering that it is a 19th century building in Rome. It was located on the first floor, approached by a flight of stairs (though I believe there is an elevator in the building). The decor was attractive, the room was spotlessly clean, there was a flat screen TV, and a really decent minibar.

Antonio and the rest of the reception staff speak English well, and are courteous, pleasant and helpful.

The breakfast buffet was one of the best I experienced in Italy. The luncheon buffet was also very good, at a fixed price of 8 euros, it was great value for money. There are many restaurants in the general vicinity, and plenty of cheap food options in Termini. There is also a drycleaners/laundry with internet terminals about two blocks away. The hotel has an internet terminal in the foyer which I was able to use for short periods with the permission of the reception staff.

The location of Hotel Art Deco is particularly quiet. Although within walking distance of Termini, it is a reasonably upmarket section of town. There are two embassies very close by, and there are carabinieri parked in the streets 24/7, keeping watch. This means that the streets are reasonably quiet and safe.

What with the Rome marathon and Scotland playing Italy, I couldn't get into my first choice hotel. However, I was not disappointed with this hotel. It is very central for the Termini station, metro and buses, and an excellent location to walk to all the major attractions.

The Hotel itself was spotless and the staff were all friendly. The buffett breakfast was a treat. Scrambled eggs and bacon, cereal, a range of pasteries and breads and good strong coffee. Set you up for the day ahead.

Our hotel room was a decent size and had a modern flat screen TV with satalitte. Tea and coffee making facilities are provided in the room free of charge but you do need to contact reception and they will bring it up for you. A well stocked mini bar is also provided and the prices did not seem too extreme. My only disappointment was the fact that our room only had a shower not a bath. That said, the shower was powerful and had constant hot water.

I can't think of anything bad to say about this hotel and have already recommended it to friends

Having read a few reviews I was a little worried about having booked here, but all of these fears where soon washed away.

We stayed for 4 nights, arriving on the friday (earlier than check-in, the room was ready for us).

Everything in rome is relatively close, all walkable and the metro is pretty good to be fair. As such the hotel is nicely situated as it's in a pretty quiet area away from the hustle and bustle (roman roads make traffic pretty noisy).

Following the via septembre (2 mins away from the hotel) will lead you back to all of the major touristy spots (down to barberini and on to trevi, spanish steps etc).

The hotel itself is pretty basic, rooms arent huge but they are clean and adequate. With going in february/march the temperature wasnt such an issue but it was still pretty warm even then, air con didnt seem great (but that might not have been on given fully given the time of year).

Breakfast was a simple continental breakfast, tea, couisant, cereals etc ... what was good is that it was server until 10:30 (which when youve done a lot of walking the day before (not to mention a wine or two can be a godsent).

Theres a few places around, but we liked the caffe bar, if you head up via castelfinardo to the top and its just accross the road on the left.

Station is nice and handy for catching busses, but metro is so nice and easy it seems daft not to do.

Only place not really walkable is the vatican (again we took a bus day 2 and metro day 4... metro was pretty quick).

Piaza navona was definately our favourite hangout, and if your not a light sleeper I'd recommend trying around their for a great central hotel. Otherwise this hotel is practical and pretty nicely off the main drag, without being too far.

  • Liked — Reception was very very helpful and always friendly
  • Disliked — Got a bit warm.
