We are a family with several children and had a wonderful stay in 2 extremely spacious connecting rooms in this hotel. This is an expensive hotel, however, with very good deal for starwood preferred guest members. Comparing it to other upscale Rome hotels: the location is near the termini train station which is a bit less glamorous. However, an enormous advantage for us was ease of walking to and from the station and avoiding traffic in taxis or metro with suitcases. The central area of Rome is compact enough that this is really an easy walk to all the major sights. We had a Roma pass and an open tour pass so also easily supplemented walking with metro and bus depending on destination. Other things about this hotel: service is almost impeccable (most concierges were fabulous except for one who started poorly but redeemed himself), restaurant on site is excellent, room service is fabulous, the gym/spa is excellent, rooms are extremely comfortable, internet is about 4 euros per hour which is not too excessive for this caliber hotel. Neat freaks will notice some tear, some stains etc..: we were however completely enchanted by the pampering, art, comfort and grandeur of this hotel.

There is no denying this is a beautiful hotel and is deserving of its 5 star staus. The rooms however are very small. I stayed in 2 rooms and in the first the room was so small the drawers couldn't open due to the bed. In the 2nd room the bedroom was a bit bigger but the bathroom was much smaller. No bidet!! I would look elsewhere the next time I stay in Rome. Also if you want to see the sites of Rome be prepared to walk and walk.

This hotel is just amazing. Everyone from the bell man to the GM took a real interest in making our trip perfect. My wife and I were there for our 1st anniversary using our points for 2 nights before our trip to the Amalfi . I read some negative reports from people using points but my experience was spectacular. We were upgraded, treated like royalty, and taken care of. So much so that we decided to pay to stay at the hotel for our one night in Rome at the end of the trip before we flew out. The historic hotel is beautiful, conviently located, and maintained as you would expect at a St. Regis. We are big fans of the St Regis brand and have spent a lot of memorable occasions at their various locations, and St. Regis Rome does not disappoint. Congrats to VIncenzo the manager and his entire staff for creating the perfect Rome experience.

The Hotel Eden is walking distance. It is a beautiful hotel that is more of a boutique. The Excellsior is a little too big for our taste and seems to cater more to conventions. The St. Regis is incredible.

Stayed three nights at the St.Regis Grand Hotel Rome as part of a 10 day Italy vacation. The hotel is old but in good condition. The rooms are decorated with Louis XV style furnishing and the bath rooms are all new and very nice. Service is good and we enjoyed the food and entertainment in the lobby bar. The hotel is in a very good location for seeing the sights in Rome (Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, etc). The only bad thing I can say is the room prices during peak season can be $1,000.00 per night and parking is $75.00 per day. I used Starwood points for three free nights, but otherwise this is a very expensive hotel that is not worth the money.

We stayed at The St. Regis instead of The Hassler, where our friends were staying, because I could use my Starwoods points. The staff was formal and cold; there were many staff members everywhere, but not once were we greeted by name...in an eerily empty hotel. The contrast was considerable when we returned to The Hassler to have drinks with our friends for the second time. We were greeted warmly and told that our friends were in the bar....they remembered us from our one visit!
