What an experience! As an avid traverler throughout the world, I have been able to stay at some of the best rated hotels in the United States, Europe Mexico and the Carribean. By far this hotel is on the top of my list.
I stayed at the St Regis "Grand" over Easter week, and LOVED every minute. From the moment you arrive, until the moment you are walked up to your room, the experience is jaw dropping. Once we arrvied into our room, we had a bottle of champagne, delivered within 5 minutes of arrival, we had little treats in our room daily, even bottles of wine and cheese, a huge choclate Easter Egg. All without a charge to our hotel tab.
In the evenings, we sat at the Le Bar, and had a few of drinks, and wow, they were strong, so even though pricey, you get your monies worth.
Our room was amazing, just out of a Disney Story Book, and the bathroom, was just like home. Big bathroom, very lighted, big huge mirrior. The furnishings were very gauldy at times, but what do you expect when your in Rome, and staying at the St Regis. We had the air conditioner on all the time, even at night and the maid never turned it off or lowered the temperature, which was good because it was quiet warm during our stay in Rome. Maid service was great, only problem was we ran out of toilet paper once. We had two rolls, but somehow seemed to have used them in one day. I laughed about it, and it became an inside joke with my friend and I.
I have to note that at times, while sitting in the lobby I felt out of place. I'm an avid fan of baseball, and wear caps 75 percent of the time. By the second day, I wasn't wearing my baseball cap anymore.
Overall, I would stay here again on my next visit. This hotel made my stay to Rome even more rewarding. memorable and enchanting. It will forever hold a speical place in my heart.

I just got back from Rome and had such a great time. First off, I was in contact with the hotel via e-mail for car service, a Vatican tour, and Easter tickets for St. Peter's. The concierge was quick to respond and accomodating. Like other guests had mentioned, when we arrived our room wasn't quite ready, but they brought out cookies and coffee. They came to take us up to the room about a half hour later. The hotel entrance is small -- so initially you don't expect a "grand" hotel. Once you get in, there is marble everywhere and a gigantic chandlier. We had a room to the interior courtyard, so it was very quiet. That was a big plus in a bustling city. The concierage gave great recommendations and our private tour of the Vatican Museum/Sistine Chapel/St. Peter's was great. They came through with tickets to Easter. Every morning, the brunch buffet was good and the service was great. The only thing to keep in mind is this is a very old building. I think they did a major rennovation in 2000, but there is some wear and tear. I wouldn't normally even mention it (nothing big), but at this level of a hotel, you expect everything to be absolutely perfect. All in all, it was a great experience and I would go back.

This hotel is the true epitomy of St Regis and luxury right in the heart of Rome. When we first arrived the porters were at our service immediately and escorted us to the front desk where they were very polite and professional. Being a gold SPG member I requested an upgrade to a deluxe room and they gave me an imperial room with optional butler service which was really impressive. The room was out of this world and felt like a palatial bedroom. The bedding was amazing, beautiful linens, very clean and the marble bathroom was up to my standard. Their luxury toiletries (Laura Tonato) were a real treat also. They gave us free water daily and an evening treat every night (macaroons, biscuits and local italian treats). The evening turndown service was lovely too they really freshened up the room beautifully. The breakfast wasnt that impressive, expected a better spread of food but the chef and our morning waiter were very polite and friendly. If you want to feel like a celebrity go for the Bottega Venetta Suite, I think this is where george and madonna stay! I wouldnt stay anywhere else in Rome now and I would highly recommend it.

We arrived in the late afternoon, our room was ready almost immediately, they upgraded our room without even having to ask. We found this hotel through AmEx travel, so we trusted that it would be top notch, and it was in every way!
The room we got did only have the view of the courtyard, but when you are in Rome, you are rarely ever in the room! The room was large, nice shower and bathtub, 2 sinks, large king size bed and flat screen tv. There was a small desk and couch area as well. I did not like that the hotel charged so much for internet access, but most highend hotels always do, so not surprised.
Upon our arrival I was very persistant about getting a private driver to take my husband and I to Ostia Antica, I had been trying to arrange this through a private tour service, but no one had gotten back to me with the details, so within minutes the concierge had a driver pick us up and take us there! It was not cheap, but the driver spoke very well english, so I was impressed!
The concierge was always willing to help with dinner reservations, etc. anything we needed, we even requested a specific type of converter for our personal use (bc our's was stolen from our luggage from Madrid to Milan) they brought it within minutes, and didn't charge us for it either! very nice...
The rooms were very clean, always turndown at night, which I like and the mini bar was always restocked. They also provided 2 complimentary waters per day in the room, which was nice too!
We ate in the Late Night Bar area twice, once for lunch and dinner, the food was good, especially nice to be able to get a sandwich & fries, which you can't find in the city, although I did think 8 euros for an iced tea was ridiculous and I mean for every glass...pricey, but I always expect that from St Regis, come on..
Overall, a great experience, friendly service and a perfect location!! Highly recommended!

My partner and I stayed here last October for 4 nights. We found the hotel to indeed be "grand" as in the title, certainly the lobby and outward facade were impressive, but overall, found it quite stuffy and rooms small for the price. We were paying nearly full rack rates at the time... $550/night (CAD) and there was nothing about the hotel worth that price tag. Staff were not unfriendly, but not out of their way to be friendly either; restaurant was nice but nothing to rave about (the real great restaurants were in the true Italian districts); concierge gave typical tourist advice and it wasn't until night 2 or 3 that he finally got it right about us looking for a trendy but truly Italian experience and then we were directed to fabulous chic... but it took a while.
The rooms were nice, again, but small... as to be expected, and even though we were paying nearly full pop for the room, we just got a courtyard view.
There was nothing really wrong with the St. Regis Grand, but there was nothing spectacular either. We have stayed at many 5 *s across the world, and this one did not to anything to really differentiate itself from its competitors.
(BTW, we arrived early and were directed to the restaurant for breakfast as our room wasn't ready. We were charged 56Euro for two cappuccinos and a pastry basket... )
