“Lovely Stay In Rome Thanks To Hotel Morgana.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 26, 2013

Just got back from Rome and stayed here for 6 nights. We were early for check in but they were great and let us check in early. We stayed in room 320, which was a lovely room, very adequate and comfortable. It did have a step but was not an issue at all. Bed was a good size and comfortable. The bathroom was very modern and tidy. Shower was a very nice walk in shower. Breakfast was nice, a good choice for breakfast, personally wish there was a bit more hot selection but you cant complain. The staff were great at breakfast and in general. The housekeepers accidentally took our remote for the TV out of our room, called down to the front desk. Paul was very helpful in checking the whole room and brought us a new remote all within 10 minutes. Wifi in the hotel was alright, a bit slow but wasn't a problem for basic browsing. The area itself was good, very close to station, restaurants and a nice walk to the Colosseum and other attractions in Rome. Would fully recommend the Hotel and was great value. Thanks for the lovely stay.

During our stay the staff were so helpful. The front desk staff were lovely and very accommodating, they couldn't do enough for us! It's in the perfect location for all transport links. You can get 1 & 3 day metro/bus tickets from the tobacco shop a few doors along the street. The rooms are adequate and well dressed with excellent AC!! In August you'll need it! Breakfast is great and well stocked!

We have just returned from a three night stay in Rome(Hotel Morgana). Let me allay the fears of those who are wishing and/or are booked to stay there. Anyone critical of this place is either very fussy or a tad pedantic. The staff, rooms, facilities, breakfast, and location are all great. So, the lifts are a bit small and temperamental but who cares. Going up and down those stairs will help you limber up for climbing those hills. We had the same trepidations and reservations after reading some of the views here, but they all evaporated after our first day. A massive thank you to all the staff for making our stay a pleasant one.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the courtyard are quieter.

I last stayed in the Morgana about 15 years ago and my experience this time confirmed my opinion that it is one of the best hotels for its price, convenience and service in Rome. This time was on a three day break with British Airways. No problem with the booking, my room was ready, clean, perhaps a little tight on space but manageable, There was a minibar in the room, free wi-fi (a little variable at times, and a TV with a limited range of programmes but including BBC World, Fox, Sky Cinema, 2 Sky sports channels, a German channel and the usual Italian channels. The bathroom was well equipped with bath, shower, lovely soft towels, bidet, hair dryer and a good range of toiletries. The room was air-conditioned and pleasantly cool when it was 35c outside. The breakfast was great with hot scrambled egg and bacon, yoghurts, cereals, meats, fruits, yummy cakes and bread with tea, coffee and juices. I would recommend this hotel. It is worth mentioning that it is a 5 minute stroll from Roma Termini station with trains to every part of Italy, the bus station is adjacent to Termini station and the Metro station is below the main-line station.Between the hotel and the station there are buses serving both Fiumicino and Ciampino airports with fares of around 4 euros. Fiumicino is also served by a half-hourly service from Termini.

Room Tip: Rooms on the street side are cooler in summer with some street noise

This hotel is located within 5 minutes walk from Rome Termini train station. So location wise it is great. Not much going on except some nice restaurants in the area. The hotel is definitely centrally located that you could walk to almost all main tourist spots on foot within 30 minutes. The only exception is Vatican which will take you about 40 - 50 minutes. Nevertheless, Metro is near by. You could definitely go around very easily, especially central Rome is not that big after all.

The room itself is very clean. The bed is a bit small but comfortable. Comparing with the photos I see here, I believe I had the older room. However, it was still quite nice and well kept.

The hotel staff members were very friendly and helpful. They all spoke fluent English and are eager to help your stay even nicer.

In summary, the hotel is well located and well priced, with great friendly staff, and nice clean rooms.

Room Tip: The nicer rooms are those not facing the street.

Many reviews can be highly subjective, whereby, what one person finds awful another person would love!! I will make every effort to minimise subjectivity.

Some key features

Good location - The main station (Termini) for buses, trains, etc is around the corner and you are surrounded by a number of decent restaurants. The Colloseum is also a 20-25 mins walk

Staff - The staff are exceptionally helpful and knowledgeable.

Decoration / Cleanliness - This is no bargain basement hotel. The hotel and its rooms are very well decorated. Also very well maintained. The room itself is small but liveable. Other reviews have commented on the poor air conditioning... this is true but from our experience wasn't unbearable. We just opened our windows (in addition to the AC).

Breakfast - You're in Europe!! Don't expect pancakes, bacon and maple syrup!! There's a lovely spread of food, to include some amazing cakes and pastries!!

Shuttle Service - The hotel advertises 60 Euros (for a couple). Please note that this is one way!! It costed 110 Euros for a return to the Airport but the expediency was worth it.

The majority of reviews speak well of this hotel and I agree with them. The Hotel allows you to enjoy your visit to Rome without worrying about major inconveniences from accommodation.

I stayed in here in July 2013 with 3 others. Check in was nice and quick! I found the lifts waaay too small and slow and we had to go up to our rooms in 2s as we didnt all fit in the lift with our luggage. The room was pleasant, the tv was excellently placed in the middle of the room so all 4 beds had a good view of the tv later when we were relaxing, bathroom was modern and clean. The breakfast was not too bad, lots of variety. The location is ideal, walking distance to the station as well as the 4 fountains and other nice squares & plazas. Only one criticism the area in which the hotel is located is a little shady esp around the train station. It helped having a guy with us to travel with, it made us girls feel safer but otherwise a good choice!!
