Room --> By European and/or Roman standards, the "superior double" room that we (me, my wife and our 7-year-old boy) booked, is one of the most generous in terms of free space, never felt "tight" while we were all together in the room, it was always a pleasure returning back to our base after a long day of walking and sightseeing. Big spacious bathroom with bathtub, not the usual claustrophobic shower cabins that an adult can barely stand in. In addition, our room was VERY quite, something that counts a lot when all you want is a good night's sleep in order to wake up in the morning fresh and ready for a new day in Rome (that was because the hotel rooms face the backyard, which is nothing more than some other building's back, but again, when travelling I gladly exchange the lack of view with a priceless serene night.
Staff --> EVERYBODY was very polite and ready to help whatever the problem/need was, very friendly, kind of a "family" atmosphere and at the same time very professional staff. The room was booked several months before and every little detail was taken care of exactly as promised in the initial emails that we exchanged with the hotel management (for example, the car that, when leaving, would carry as from the hotel to the Fumicino airport was fixed in February, when we booked the room, at a certain price for the morning of the 22nd of June and it was right there waiting for us!)
Location --> What can I say? The Metro station is at the doorstep of the hotel, we could not ask for anything more since we had only 3 days available to see as much of Rome as we could. Some previous reviewers mentioned that they spotted a few "suspicious" guys on the nearby area but, hey, we are talking about the metro of a big metropolis, it's no different than any other similar place. At no moment we felt uncomfortable or unsafe.
Another big plus was the fact that round the corner there were two trattorias (neighborhood restaurants) with very good food and extremely reasonable prices, a big advantage especially on Sundays when most of the downtown restaurants are closed.
Other --> Restaurant, bar (with small/light dinner) and a cozy leaving room with TV and an Internet spot were all operating/in order, just keep in mind that we are not talking about anything fancy or gourmet considering the food, it is just an effortless solution when you are too tired to get out and start looking for a restaurant.
All-in-all --> MUCH better than expected, great value for money, if I return to Rome I would definitely stay at the Napoleon again.
