The hotel is all the things mentioned below. A great value in Rome and safe, clean and not too far from the action (close to the Metro).

But for the four of us (two couples) it was Roberto, the concierge, who made our Roman stay so very pleasant. He was helpful, sent us to good restaurants, handled shipping some gifts home for us (the only ones that have made it so far). He also paired us up with the Green Line Tour (GLT), one of the 'hop on/hop off' buses that hit all the tourist spots. Their service (GLT) was rerrible. They did not honor thier schedule and actually made us get off an hour early a good half mile from the hotel. When we shared this word with Roberto, he apologized and refunded our money immediatetly. Grazie!

Several folk have complained about the neighborhood where this hotel is, but we never felt threatened in any way. There was a fine OVS department store in the same building, a normal police presence, a nice park across the street. All in all, it was afine place to stay in Rome. Great value.

Our trip to Roma. We have stayed here twice now, and the staff are excellent, friendly and lovely to speak too.
The hotel itself is beautiful with excellent service too. We are so glad we booked this hotel so close to the metro and to various attractions close to us. We plan to return to Roma again next year 2010 and of course stay at this hotel again as we can not fault it. I would recommend this hotel to our families and friends. Ciao Mrs. R Dourado

Even though I arrived not long before midnight, the checkin staff were wonderful and seemed genuinely pleased to see me.
The two nights I stayed were lovely - the room had everything I needed and the bathroom was clean with good water pressure.
However, the standout feature of the Napoleon for me was its staff. Nothing was too much trouble, from organising me a restaurant (Romantica - fantastic) to instructions on how to get around, using the Metro and where to go for the best shopping.

I'd definitely return. It wasn't a cheap place...the location, food and room were great but it's really worth paying that little bit extra to know you'll be looked after by the staff.

This was the first leg of a four city tour of Italy and a very great start. We were picked up at the airport by the most delightful young man. The concierge service was out of this world and the Friday wine tasting with the manager, Roberto, was unexpected and very nice. The breakfast buffet was the best we had while in Italy. You can't beat the location and free wi-fi! We were out all hours into the night and never once felt unsafe. This is a very cool, family run hotel and if you are looking for a chain this isn't it. The level of service can't be beat and I hope to come back soon.
My only suggestion to the hotel would be to attach a soap dish in the shower as there was no place to put your soap/shampoo.
