“Nice and Comfortable Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

The hotel gives you a warm feeling. Front desk staffs were friendly and helpful. Rooms are small but super clean. Breakfast is good and so is the coffee. Location is quite close to Roma Termini train station, like 15 mins walk and right in front of subway station. But the neighborhood is pretty alarming and dirty. Stay away from small alleyway, empty or dark places!

The Napoleon Hotel was a great place to stay with family. Our "apartmento" on the top floor had two separate rooms and a balcony. Plenty of space, lovely and quiet and very comfortable. The hotel is charming, especially the relaxed guest lounge on the first floor, and the cheerful breakfast room. The breakfast was wonderful - a great choice of fresh fruit (apricots to die for!), cold meats and cheese, pastries, bread, cereals and hot selection. The location is also very good. Less than 15 minutes to walk to the Colosseum and only 20 to walk to the Forum and centro historico. The area around Piazza Vittorio Emmanuelle is more relaxed than the historical centre, and has plenty of good options for drinks and dinner, as well as a park for a stroll at sunset (although probably not any later than that). There is a Metro station within minutes which allows you to get across to the Spanish Steps, Villa Borghese and Piazza del Popolo at the top of the Corsa quickly and easily. Friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere plus very good value. Highly recommended as an affordable but very comfortable hotel for families with children.

Room Tip: Ask about family room options and, if you can, request the 6th floor apartmento.

Napoleon Hotel was a paradise after a bunch of unsatisfactory hotels in Italy. The previous rooms were small and the WiFi was not even working. However, this hotel was very satisfactory.
The reception was very organized and helpful. Although sometimes when people are helpful, you are expected to give them money of some sort, our receptionist kindly helped carry our luggage without a tip (although we strongly recommended him to receive it).
The room was good, and it was very comfy. The lobby was big and beautiful. It would be a good idea to enjoy the lobby and read a book or just work on your computer.
The best part of it was, because we were thinking about lowest prices, we booked as two adults although there were three people. The receptionist kindly put an extra bed in our room WITHOUT an extra bed fee.
We were very glad to stay in this hotel. We would come back here again and try some more luxurious rooms.

Hotel staff where very friendly, and accommodating nice place to stay in the middle of Rome.
4 stars for the hotel and staff. 0 star for the gastronimic experience. The food itself is anotner story. My wife ordered steak with mushrooms medium well, TROPPO SALATO, very very salty and my daughter ordered the pasta carbonara, also very very salty. If this was not free dinner we would have given the cook something.

Roberto C, Proprietario at Napoleon Hotel, responded to this review, yesterday
Dear Best8 181,
Thank you for your kind review and your appreciation. about our hotel, apart the dinner food.
I have already spoke with our Chef and invited him to pay the highest attention regarding the salt.
I would just outline a couple of considerations: for my personal experience and for what our Guests report constantly, the food is usually very good and well prepared.
On the last days, our Chef was ill and we had his valid substitute who usually also cooks very, very well and accurately. Because the evening when you had your dinner the restaurant was very busy, maybe he was too much rushing and had made a mistake.
I am sorry for that. We have also taken some action to avoid a similar circumstance in the future. Therefore here I would sincerely thank you also for your helpful remark and even all our Guests who had a positive experience with our restaurant and express their appreciation through several reviews. I hope to have a chance of welcoming you again at the Hotel Napoleon, and I am more than confident that you will wholly enjoy your stay, including a nice dinner at our restaurant.
Kind regards

Roberto Cioce

This hotel is such a little gem of a place!

Firstly the staff were incredibly helpful via email and helped me arrange taxi transfers from the airport to the hotel. This cost 48 euro for two people and two cases and is about a 45 minute drive. They allowed us to check in early to our room due to the prior communication via email they knew what time to expect us.

When booking the hotel I mentioned this little getaway was to celebrate our 4th anniversary and we were greeted with a bottle of bubbly on ice.

We also found in our welcome pack an inivation to a wine tasting event for out 2nd night. This wasn't so much actual wine tasting but more free wine and nibbles whilst chatting with other guests. This proved rather useful in getting to know whats good to do in rome and whats not.

The breakfast was lovely with lots of selection and it never ran out no matter what time you got to breakfast. More points about the hotel before I move on, incredibly clean, airconditioning is free, minibar very reasonbly priced and well stocked.

Also very handily the metro station is literally outside the front door of the hotel and it is one stop away from the termini, where the main Rome station is (which is where you change lines or catch a hop on hop off bus service) and is only 4 stops on the same line to the trevi fountain.

I just don't think you could find a better hotel in a better location for the price.

With regards to the location of the hotel, it is not at all as bad as previous guests have made out. The city is like any other, I felt incredibly save and we found some lovely restaurants within 200m of the hotel using the tripadvisor app. We even ate at 2 which had received trip advisor certificate of excellance awards for many years running.

We will definitely be returning to this hotel in the future to discover more of what Rome has to offer.

My wife an I took an extra day after our cruise to visit Rome before our flight home. The Napoleon Hotel is a family owned and run hotel in central Rome. The check in process was great and we were in our room very soon. The front desk staff gave us great directions to walk to a few sights. the room was spacious very clean. The hotel arranged a pick up for us at the cruise port as well as to the airport the next morning. They offered a wine tasting and light snacks complimentary before dinner. The hotel owner came around and greeted everyone personnaly and offered his appreciation for choosing his hotel. We ate at the hotel and the food was very good. They also offer a complimentary breakfast buffet which is substantial and well presented.

Room Tip: We had a double deluxe which is like a small suite with sitting room and bedroom.

Such a charming hotel in the city, within walking distance of many attractions. The rooms are small, but more than adequate and spotless. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely stay here again.
