We recently stayed at the Stahotel Metropole in Rome and loved it. The room we stayed in must have been recently refinished (see pictures). The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. Even the maid, who spoke no English and we spoke no Italian, was friendly and like a sweet mother, reminded us to put on our sunblock and watch our bags while out sightseeing. Breakfast was included in our room rate, which was a full spread of pastries, rolls, jams, fruit and hot items like bacon and eggs. It was very close to Termini, which was great because we left for our next destination by train so we able to walk to and from the station with our bags without needing a cab. It was also close to Metro stops for both lines A and B. If we ever return to Rome, we would stay there again.

The hotel is situated near the termini and this is very handy for buses, metros and the train. The area is perfectly safe and we always felt comfortable walking around. We checked in and out at weird times (1am and 5am) and both times were speedy and courteous.

Breakfast was plentiful and tasty with fruit, cereal, croissants/cake, rolls, salamis and hams and egg/bacon on offer. My daily cappuccino was delicious. Quite the best. Just make sure you order this instead of the usual Americano style bland and bleughhh coffee.

The hotel is beautifully air-conditioned and quiet. Our room was spacious and clean and the bed was large and comfortable (always a worry). Just beware of extortionate internet charges.

I found reception staff brisk but helpful. I can see how guests may consider a degree of warmth to be lacking but this wasn't an issue. We needed to print out our boarding passes and they kindly did this for us. I also lost my engagement ring down the plughole in the room and they could not have responded quicker, sending two hotel technicians to the rescue. Sure - you won't get top notch touristy advice at the front desk but isn't that what the Rough Guide to Rome is for?

This is a good solid hotel and I recommend it highly.

From first contact to our departure the experience was excellent. As a business and leisure traveler I can tell you that this stay was one that made a huge difference in our overall Rome experience.

The courteousness of staff, cleanliness, amenities, size and decor of rooms, common areas, breakfast offerings, everything was absolutely at the top.

Any questions we had or requests we made were handled quickly and very efficiently. Our stay at the Metropole was one that definitely enhanced our overall trip to Rome.

Our selection on this hotel has proven to be excellent. We strongly recommend it. It is ideally placed, close to Metro stations and the Termini train station. We walked day and night without any having to worry about our own safety. The hotel has a lot of restaurants nearby from which we have to pick Alessio's just round the corner with excellent food & their own wine and is a close walk from Via Nazionale, a street with great shops. If we ever visit Rome again, The Metropole is the hotel we're going to book in. Definitely.
