We visited this hotel a couple weeks ago per our Globus Tour group, and was disappointed in it's considerable distance to downtown Roma. It was included in our tour itinterary, and we had no choice in hotels. (It was located in more of a residential area.) Thank goodness for the free shuttle bus service leaving every hour, which dropped you off at the Piazza Cavour - within walking distance of many things. Free maps provided at the front desk were also extremely helpful.
Rooms were somewhat mediocre: most 4-Star Hotels (by European standards) seem to think dirty, stained carpets are O.K.. Room was good-sized by Italian standards, 2 twin beds extremely firm. Shower and bath were adequate. Breakfast basic, but plentiful. (Be wary of the "Breakfast Room Police," who asked you to leave the dining area if you weren't one of the regular patrons, but merely a group tour member!....A separate dining room with less breakfast items offered were for the group tour members.)
The "nearby grocery store" turned out to actually be located down a hill below the hotel, accessible only by walking a mile or more through parking lots, an alley filled with garbage, and down a terrifying auto ramp - jumping out of the way of speeding cars and motorbikes! ...Internet access was unavailable when we were there, but expensive.
This hotel caters more to conventions than tour groups, and left us with the feeling more than once that we were merely being tolerated. Thankfully we were only there a couple of nights. The hotel pool was filled with water, but was unavailable to use due to no lifeguard on duty. The best part of this hotel experience was the great (free) shuttle bus available!

Jolly hotel midas is a lovely large hotel just out side of Rome. The hotel provides a free shuttle bus to the centre of Rome which is about 30mins away and the bus runs every hour. Hotel is clean and rooms are spacious with balcony’s, swimming pool at hotel but only opens certain times of year. Buffet breakfast of cakes and cereals, but there is plenty to eat in Rome so you wont go Hungary. Supermarket just at the end of road at hotel. Hotel staff helpful. Would recommend hotel for a city break away from the hassle of the city!

All the staff were able to communicate well in English which was a big relief. The Hotel itself was clean and tidy, comfortable and very well organised. The free shuttle bus allowed us to have a relaxing holiday outwith the hustle of the city centre but ran constantly during the day at apprpriate times. Breakfast and Dinner were very nice and the swimming pool was great. There is a large supermarket very close to the hotel which was really useful as well. Would definately reccommend. Had a fantastic time.

This hotel is a little out of the way, but it offers a regular free bus in and out of central rome. Dropped you in a very easy to find place, and ran quite late into the evening, had no problems with it at all. Was quite nice to go back to a quieter area.

Room was fine, we didn't spend much time in it anyway. Ate in the hotel restaurant, thought it was a bit overpriced for the amount of food you got, so ate out the rest of the time. Breakfast was fine though. We did spend one afternoon by the pool which was great as it was very hot when we went!

There's a huge supermarket under the hotel (it's on a hill) on the main road. Fine for picking up water, snacks and laughing at funny product names!

Was a while ago, so can't remember many details! I think we got a cheap deal on it, but i would think about staying there again if i go back to Rome!

Last Visit:October 2007, I was given room #221 on 10/3/2007, the carpet looked like it had been in a barnyard, all the table tops were dirty with glass rings on them, the bathroom countertop had dirty black glass rings on it, the bath countertop at the back of the sink rim had a 1/2 inch of crud along it, the shower/tub had black mold and fungus in various places, the bathroom ceiling had stains and dirt on it, wallpaper was peeling in various parts of the room, one section near the entrance had wallpaper torn off and missing from the wall, the door to the adjoining room had damage to it and pieces torn off, the TV outlet was hanging out of the wall, the 220V outlet by the TV was missing the faceplate and the outlet was broken away from the box and hanging out, the hall and stair carpets also looked like they had been used in a barnyard.

After extended complaints to management, I was moved to room 225. It was only slightly better. Looking at room 221 after I was moved, I found that they had just taken the toilet "sanitary" paper band out of the trash and put it back on the toilet and the room was ready for the next guest!

Stay away!!!! What a dump
