I regret that I haven't taken any pictures of the room during my one-week stay, infact now that I look at the images that other users posted on this I feel like I took crazy pills!!
I don't quite recognize the hotel !!!!
Please note that I booked 8 (!!!) rooms for my colleagues (we were in Rome for a convention), so I think this is a very good range to get one's ideas straight. All the rooms (except three of them) were located on the ground floor and the majority of them were facing a filthy, narrow lane on the back of the hotel. We asked the receptionist to change our accomodation, but she told us that there was no room available in the whole building (PS ...but during our stay we saw only a few guests apart from us...). I must admit that I was not surprised at all, as the female receptionist wasn't friendly at all. The bartender, on the contrary, was really nice and helpful.
The room was dark, small, and the walls were dirty (it seemed like someone had been walking "WALKING" on them!). The toilet was tiny and had a very bed lighting.
The only things I liked about the hotel were the location (ideal if you plan to have shopping nearby) and the breakfast (quite abundant buffet, even if not excellent in quality).
4 stars??????????????????? I would say 2 and half....

We stayed at the Grand Hotel Olympic Aurum for 2 nights. It was a good hotel if a bit bog standard compared to the other hotels we had stayed in. The staff were polite and courteous. We had a quadruple room which was a good size even for 2 adults and 2 young teenagers. The hotel had the best air conditioning out of the all the hotels we stayed in in Italy controlled rather like the central heating thermostat back home in England. The beds were very clean and comfortable. The decor and style of the hotel were nothing special though. You could have been in any city or country even.

One of the best things during our stay was the free parking you get at the weekend. We had expected Rome to be full of crazy cars and full of people. However it was August Bank holiday and apparently the Romans had left the city to the seaside which made the city very pleasant and easy to drive in. We could park just outside our hotel which made it very convenient. It is a short walk from the Vatican. I didn't see many restaurants close by during our stay though. However, it is just as nice going somewhere busy to eat such as the Piazza Nuovena as there's such a nice atmosphere and vibe.

Overall, a good value for money hotel in a good location away from the crowds.

This is a very handy hotel for sightseeing, open top bus stop round the corner, Vatican at the end of street off square 5 minutes walk. Rooms not quite as grand as photos a bit shabby rooms quite small but clean and plenty hot water for showers.
Breakfast ok cereal ,cheese,bread,yoghurt,boiled eggs,fruit juice coffee,tea etc. Would probably stay here again.

I have stayed here a couple of times before, so that shows that I like this hotel. I like the location as it is on a great street in rome and there are some fantastic places to eat close by. The hotel is reasonably priced for central rome and the rooms are comfortable - but I do always book a superior, which gives you more space. I have to say this time I noticed some nice new touches in the room (electric blinds and new fridge). The bathrooms are always on the small side in rome, but this one was well proportioned with a large shower. The cleaners do a wonderful job and the room was spotless as always. Breakfast is basic bread, cheese, cereal etc.

You can do a lot worse than stay here.
