“Great Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2013

It was so nice and unforgettable back and to stay at Hotel Traiano....

As usual the staff made my stay unique, have been helpful to all my requests, about tours, restaurants and major sites of Rome.

The breakfast was rich and rooms are quite clean.
All the main sites, Colosseum, Spanish step, Venezia Square are walking distance.

I really hope to go back to "Traiano" soon......

I stayed at Hotel Traiano for 5 nights and I can tell that has been a very enjoyable and unforgettable stay.
First of all, is located in the heart of Rome, where you cuold reach the main attractions, Colosseo. Fontana di Trevi, Piazza di Spagna etc etc. in just 5/10 minutes walking....

The breakfast is varied and quite plentiful, among the delicious croissants.
The reception staff all were very courteous, friendly and helpful in every possible way, give us good tips, how to reach museum, and best restaurants in town.
I will definitely return to this hotel in future and would recommend it to family and friends.

Fantastic location, we were able to walk to the main sites. It's on a main road so our room was noisy but if you ask for a room without a view, at the back, noise shouldn't be a problem. Breakfast was great - lots of choice and served in an amazing dining room. Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Great place

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the street, traffic noise is very loid

A lovely hotel, great breakfast and friendly staff. Only problem was we had room 107 overlooking the road so sleep was interrupted by traffic noise. Apart from that the hotel is perfectly placed for walking to all the sites. Perfectly happy and would definitely book again although I'd ask for a room at the back.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that doesn't overlook the road, it may not have a view but you won't have the...

The staff actually remembered us from 2 years before and we were welcomed like old friends. Although a little old fashioned the rooms are clean and the hotel is very central. It is within easy walking distance of historical attractions and is near to some very good affordable eating places and Cafes.

I have read some previous reviews and realized that the hotel has Improved on a lot of things pointed Out by previous occupants. Perfect location, waking distance from everything there is to see in Rome: ruins, monuments, shopping. Good rooms with foxtel tv and all neccessary fixtures. Good breakfast included in the total price, absolutely amazing breakfast room with decorated ceilling and murano glass light fittings. Highly recommend this hotel and would stay there again on my next visit.

Location
The location was the main positive of this hotel. The Trevi Fountain and the Colosseum are both a short walk away, and Vatican City is about a 40 minute walk away.

Rooms
The rooms and facilities were clean, but dated, and the hotel is on a main road, so traffic can be heard at all hours in lower-level rooms. Our air-conditioner did not work, but in April this was not a major issue. The safe is not in the room, but behind the reception desk, but we were not charged for using it.

Breakfast
The breakfast was sufficient, if not very varied, and came in very useful, as many places near the hotel do not open very early in the mornings. It mostly consists of "continental"-style buffet (meat, cheese, croissants, cereal etc.), with some hot food (scrambled eggs and bacon/sausage).

Staff
The staff in the hotel were extremely helpful. We arrived at the hotel a lot earlier than check-in time, and were fully prepared to wait around, but they were very accommodating and found us a room straight away. They were also very helpful with directions to nearby attractions, and local restaurants, and gave us a map to help navigate around the city.

Other points to note
The room keyrings are extremely heavy! Usually, I just carry my room key out with me, but in this case it was much easier to leave it at the front desk (like you're supposed to, I guess...). The lift is also comically small (reflecting the age of the building), and it was a squeeze getting two people and a suitcase in one go.

Room Tip: Higher floors have a lot less traffic noise from the main road outside. The windows are pretty thin!
