We booked this hotel via Expedia and it seemed to be quite a reasonable price for Rome. We were quite hopeful that it would be a decent hotel in a good location, however we were sadly mistaken. I cannot begin to fathom how this hotel earned a 4* rating, it is definitely more like a European 2*. The hotel is certainly not a five minute walk to/from Cipro metro station, and I consider myself a very fast walker, it is at least fifteen minutes down a very long road. Regarding location again the hotel is about ten minutes from the VATICAN MUSEUM, but a good twenty five minutes from the actual Vatican (St Peter's Square). There are no shops about to buy drinks/snacks from and the hotel is miles away from the other central attractions, but this isn't really a problem if you use the metro.
Our room was on the second floor and upon arrival we immediately noticed how dark the room was, there was hardly any natural light at all seemed to be obscured by horrid hurricane like shutters that could not be moved up or down. The room was very hot, AC not working and we had a lovely view of a basketball court. Beds are like sleeping on a concrete slab with matching slab pillows; I have never in my life slept on such uncomfortable beds. Other than that room size not too bad, had a nice LCD TV but with no English channels at all, BEWARE internet is thirty five cents per minute.
The staff were very unhelpful, on three separate occasions did we request extra pillows, we were pointed in the wrong direction twice to the nearest shop and there porter who carried the bags seemed to be loitering outside our room whenever we left/came back to the hotel. We were also made to wait to be seen whilst the receptionist spoke on the phone several times, breakfast as mentioned by previous guests was not something to write home about. We arrived everyday at 8:15am and the eggs/bacon looked to have been there all night, dirty culterly, juice so watered down I couldn't even tell what flavour it was and bread so hard it could have been used as a weapon. All this luxury was provided in what could have passed for a tomb it was so dark, I have no idea why they didn't open the curtains; my only though is that doing so would mean they'd have to clean the windows, which obviously is something that hasn't been done since the late 1990s.
Overall this hotel was a major disappointment, the location was horrid, the actual hotel was depressing, dark, dirty and very very outdated. DO NOT STAY HERE!!
Only recommendation I can make is the Chinese/Japanese restaurant 'Wok' facing the hotel it really is lovely and very cheap too.
