This hotel is clean, small and intimate, good staff, great breakfast buffet, but VERY FAR from town center. Had to taxi twice a day. The shuttle is somewhat helpful but only has 2 drop off points. The surrounding neighborhood is quiet and lovely. ALSO, if you have a large group-the pull out beds are horribly uncomfortable but regular beds are fine.

We stayed here three days before our cruise.

Nice hotel on a hitll away from the hustle and chaos of downtown Rome. We liked staying here as you could relax have a beer or glass of wine in the garden area and it was nice and quiet after a busy day in Rome.

The hotel offers a shuttle that was prompt and convenient at dropping us off and picking us up near the Vatican and tour buses.

Room was decent sized (210) and nice to have a balcony. Dinner was good in the restaurant but happy hour cocktails and lounge food was a great value and 1/2 priced.

Breakfast was great, the best food of all three hotels we stayed in Italy. ..and that says a lot.

After a busy day in Rome we were winding down and noticed fireworks outside our balcony window. As proud Americans, we all went out on the balcony and had a great view of the fireworks which lasted for about 20 minutes.

We went to Italy and were looking for a cheap hotel.
Dei MAssimi was our choice, we thought it is located in Rome, and pretty accessible. Good points:
The hotel is clean, the service is good, the washrooms are recently renovated, and breakfast is included, there is a little garden to escape the heat and the noise of the city.
There were tho things to be aware of:
1. The rooms are tiny, and i undertand that it's common in Italy.
2. The hotel is in the city, and it says everywhere that it is close to Vatican, but you need to take a bus to get anywhere from the hotel. When we resarched the transportation, we thought that subway station is close by, but it was apparently a train station, which is not as frequent as subway.

Although breakfast was provided it was of poor quality, fruit wasn't fresh and there were very few options available.
Location is not a ten minute walk from vatican city as advertised on the website. More like half an hour for an able bodied person.
Although shuttle buses to vatican city and the metro were in place in the mornings the latest return was half six which was far to early. Public transport is available and is cheap and efficient however feel the hotel could offer a better service.
No nightlife in immediate vicinity.
There were no tea making facilities in the room.
Hotel was exceptionally clean and tidy.
The staff were friendly and helpful.
The shutters on the windows were fantastic for afternoon siesta.
The garden was well kept.
In our opinion this hotel is not to the standard expected of a four star hotel..sorry!!
