My wife and I stayed at the Lancelot for a long weekend and we loved it but not without a couple of kinks. There is nothing else to say about the location: a couple of blocks from the historical center but still hidden from the crowd; it could not get better than this. The staff is very welcoming (with exception of one person) and also very helpful. They pointed us to a couple of nice restaurants and were always ready to answer our questions. We stayed two nights at a double bed room with no terrace or balcony and two nights at another one with terrace, both located on the 6th floor. The first room was OK but we would be happier with larger bed and bathroom. The second room was more spacious and very comfortable. So, this is the first kink: if one is too large (not our case), he/she will have a hard time using the restroom or taking a shower. The second kink: we were disappointed with the breakfast: very frugal and not really in synch with the price we paid. A couple of toasters and some scrambled eggs with bacon would bring it closer to what we were expecting. That goes together with the lack of room service. Even though the hotel counts a nice little bar and a nice small garden, a regular room service would be one of those niceties that could make a difference, specially for those staying at a room with a terrace.

Loved it! 10 minute taxi ride from the station (around 16 euro) Hidden away behind a electric gate, it could be mistaken for apparetments. Lovely welcoming by an amazing family. The round tables are weird at first, but it turned out great! Massive room, with huge windows and an excellent veiw. So comfy and calm!
I deducted a star only because we were never told the check out time, so we asumed it was 11am like most european cities, but it was 10am and we were unprepared!
Great otherwise.

I was very happy with this hotel. The location is great. It's within a couple of blocks of the colosseum. The location was perfect for beginning your sight seeing. You can start at the colosseum and work your way north. If you're looking to be more in the heart of ancient Rome, you may want to stay north of the colosseum. It's hard to tell when you've never been somewhere. But, I found this place to be ideal.

The room was nice and very clean. It was also very quiet at night. There is great a/c in the room, which we used every day on our trip. The continental breakfast was nice. You share tables with people which was just okay. I never had the dinner, as it seemed a bit pricey. The recommendations for restaurants that we got from the hotel weren't that great.

Overall I would recommend this hotel.

This was a wonderful hotel: great location (2 blocks from Colloseum, 12 Euro cab ride or 20 minute bus ride to Vatican, 2 blocks from LOTS of bus stops), staff was amazing (great restaurant recommendations and wonderfully helpful is advising us which bus to take to get to which landmark). We booked it because of the low price and were please with our room and the service. WOOHOO - Free internet (although not very fast). Did I mention the staff was amazingly friendly and wonderful and helpful and great?

Advice to Americans travling in Europe - Europeans have a different way than Americans. Service providers (in hotels and restaurants) will give you the most amazing service if you are polite and gracious. If you are rude or demanding, they will more likely flip you off than try to "turn your frown upside down" Therefore, be courteous and understanding and gracious, and you will get treated like family. Also, note that hotel rooms and bathrooms are much smaller in Europe than in America unless you pay BIG BUCKS for your room - you didn't travel all that way to spend the whole time in your room did you?

We stayed at Hotel Lancelot for 5 days during a vacation to Italy. We booked the hotel primarily for it's location and were pleased with the reviews on tripadvisor. The location was perfect, only 4 blocks away from the Coloseum in a safe neighborhood. We often came back late and were never concerned about the area. There is a metro stop near at the Coloseum that can be used to access other parts of the city and is a short taxi ride to Travestevere which has some of the best restaurants in Rome. We have traveled quite a bit in Europe and found the staff at this hotel to be one of the best. They could not do enough for you. It made our stay so much better to always be welcomed back with a smile. The breakfast had a good selection for European standards. We will stay here again on our next trip to Rome. Also, don't let the taxi driver charge you more than 40 Euro to take you to this hotel from the airport. They have an agreed upon rate and it seems the drivers usually attempt to take advantage of unknowing tourists.
