Stayed in September 2004 for 5nts, in a 4th floor double room with small balcony facing the front (€152/nt) and I'd recommend this hotel. The street is quiet for Rome (one way single lane), and in easy reach of the Colleseum, Forum and Metro. I'd ask for a balcony, some don't have one and though it's just big enough for a table and 2 chairs it's nice for a beer at the end of an evening. The staff are freindly, helpful and speak good English, hotel was clean. The room was a reasonable size and the bed was comfortable. The window is double glazed with roll down external shutters for extra noise/light proofing. The bathroom is small but adequate tho' the door is insubstantial. Breakfast is a reasonable buffet, but we didn't try the evening meal. Advance cancellation policy is good.

There are restaurants, a supermarket and a pharmacy nearby. The shortest public transport way from FCO airport is to avoid the Leonardo Express to Termini. Instead get the normal train into Rome and change onto the Metro or Tram at Ostiense (cheaper too).

Price was top end of our budget, no idea if it's good value as we've not stayed in other Rome hotels, but we don't regret it.

Just sorry that it took us so long to write this.
We had a wonderful time there, the food is excellent, ferris was great, we enjoyed the Irish tour guide he gave us, we will come back.
Location was spot on.
Thanks to everyone there.

I stayed at the Lancelot from Oct 15-23, 2004. I thoroughly enjoyed this place. I have stayed in 6 or 7 different hotels in Rome and this was the best value for the money. Breakfast was more than the standard fare at most places. I opted for dinner two nights and had very nice fixed price meals. Because I was travelling alone, breakfast and dinner gave me a chance to meet other guests. I toured one day with a couple from Sweden and took several meals with a couple from Ireland. Mrs Kahn and her family (the owners) were most accomodating. Try to have a cocktail in the bar in the afternoon after a long day of sightseeing. The subway stop is about 3 or 4 blocks away. From there you can get easy connections to much of the city for 1 euro per ride. The laundry and dry cleaners a block away provided 1 day service so I could clean up my wardrobe. Very convenient to the Forum and Colesseum. The Capo D'africa Hotel is just across the street and is three times the price. THe single room was 110 euro and very clean. Bathroom was up to date and plenty of hot water. New heating and cooling system in my room was very efficient. The rooms are small based on American standards, but very similar to rooms in more expensive hotels in Rome. You are in your room so little in this great city, why waste money on hotel when this place is nice for far less money. I'll stay here on my next trip.

I just came back from Rome where I spent 8 wonderful days. The hotel is conveniently located and within easy walking distance to most attractions. The staff are warm and helpful to all guests. Need directions, transportation, restaurant suggestions or anything else the staff can assist with a variety of suggestions. Out of the many conveniences, the hotel does offer metro/bus passes for sale. I found this service convenient and time saving. Several advantages to staying at this hotel are the clean & beautiful rooms, friendly & immediate service, breakfast included, great dinners, an opportunity to meet other travelers, and internet service. The hotel is inviting and comfortable for a single traveler (female or male) and to those with families. From all the guests that I met at the hotel, each guest was impressed with the services and many of the guests were either returnees or they had been referred by previous guests of the hotel. (this says a lot) On my next visit to Rome, I plan to stay at this hotel. (a home away from home) It was comforting to see that there are still hotels that really do care about servicing their guests and making sure that each guest feels comfortable and invited to stay.

Two couples stayed at the Lancelot for three nights in Oct 2004 at the end of a two week tour of Italy. We had adjoining rooms with adjoining terraces. To step out on the terrace and see the Colloseum at day is awe inspiring-to see it at night is dramatic. The Lancelot was perfectly located for all the walking we planned on doing and it was a very relaxing place to come back to at the end of our long days. The staff is very pleasant and helpful-they got us same day reservations at Villa Borghese(hint, you should reserve days in advance). It is a comfortable, homey place to stay that suited our needs well.
