This was our first trip outside the U.S. and we were a little apprehensive about being in a country where we could not speak their language. So we were very concerned about where we should stay. We chose Hotel Lancelot based on the reviews at TripAdvisor and the location. We only had one complete day a part of two other days. Being near the Colesseum made Lancelot a good choice. The room was very nice, clean, and cool. But the very best part was the hotel staff. They made our stay as good as we could have ever hoped for. They provided helpful information concerning places to see, places to eat, and how to get there. There was someone there 24 hours a day. Without a doubt, we would stay at Hotel Lancelot if we ever return to Rome.

My bride and I recently stayed at the Hotel Lancelot. The hotel is a great hotel with a great location close the Coliseum and Palentine Hill.

Upon arrival in our rental car, the staff quickly took our bags up to the room and parked our car in the tiny courtyard. The rooms are a bit small for Americans but we found most rooms in the big cities in Italy to be small. The room was clean, cool (it was 90 plus each day in Rome), and perfect location for our adventures into Rome.

The staff is amazing and anwered all of our questions to include getting the most out of Rome's buses and subway system. There are bus stops just around the corner and we found them great to get us to the must see spots in Rome. The staff sent up a bottle of complimentary Prosecco since we were just married. A very nice touch from the staff.

I highly recommend this hotel for its location, cleanliness, and the staff. I look forward to returning to the Lancelot in the future.

We stayed here at the end of our trip for 4 nights. It was only 1 or 2 blocks from the Colosseum in a very quiet area. The staff was so friendly. The room was very clean, and the bed was the most comfortable of any hotel we stayed in, in Italy. The A/C also worked great! (which is a rare find it seems in Europe).

The hotel sets up family style dinners each night. We ended up eating there 2 of the nights, and it was outstanding.

I would stay here next time I am in Rome.

On a side note to all travelers: beware of the taxis. We traveled from the train station to the hotel (under 10 min) and besides thinking he was going to crash after SPEEDING through the streets we were charged 40 euro for the trip. Not thinking my mother in-law paid for it. After the cab was long gone we realized we were ripped off, and mentioned it to the hotel owner. Had we told him while the cabbie was there he would have put a stop to the robbery. I found out later you MUST negotiate a price with the cabs prior to getting in. (We did not experience any problems like this in Paris or Florence).

Have stayed in Rome many times but this is the friendliest of all the hotels yet. All the other hotels were high quality (4 star plus) and the Lancelot matched them all. What was extremely pleasant was that the quiet evenings and nights were a great change from the usual noisy areas. The hotel was still in a good situation and within walking distance of all the usual sites to visit. On top of all this my husband had to spend an overnight stay in hospital (he is fine now) and the hotel could not have been more helpful and concerned and went way beyond what would be expected of them, even sending food to the hospital.
I would recommend this hotel without reservation.
