“You feel like you're the only guest there!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013

This charming hotel is but 4 blocks away from the Colisseum on a quiet residential street, it is 2 blocks from the amazing Churches of San Clemente and San Giovanni. The room was charmingly quaint yet modern in bath facilities. The staff is extremely well spoken in English and charm, they are quick to assist and treat one with the patience of a saint. After a full day of touring, we often found ourselves staying in and having dinner at the hotel, which serves amazingly delicious Italian dishes crafted by owner's son -- our dinners there were the BEST we had in Rome. Mrs. Khan and her son, they own this charmer, often joined us for dinner in the small restaurant, charming us with stories of their travels and treats. Breakfast was included and was a full variety of delicious cold cuts, cheeses, breads, juices and coffee/tea, etc. We loved the location, so close to remarkable sites and but 3 blocks from bus routes and 5 from the Metro. What a charming place and wonderful people. No wonder Rick Steves' has many of his Rome tours stay here, it is delightful

Room Tip: Remember European elevators are small, therefore walking up the steps may be preferable, since the h...

From the moment we stepped into the lobby, we felt at home. The staff is exemplary, offering just the right balance of welcoming hospitality, with great professionalism and efficiency. If they did not know the answer to a question (and, usually, they did), they would do their best to try and find it, even if it involved particulars about a remote attraction. Our family stayed a total of 6 nights at the Hotel Lancelot, using it for our Rome visit and as a base to come back to from other side trips in Italy. We were able to store our luggage and take smaller bags on our short trips (a practice we highly recommend). The hotel is very clean and safe. The four of us stayed in a total of 5 different rooms. Plainly, the corner rooms, which can accommodate up to 4 people, were the most spacious and ours had a wonderful wrap around balcony from which we could see the Coliseum one way, and a 4th Century structure at the other end. Some of the other double rooms were smaller, but not unpleasantly so. Of all the rooms, we had only one bathroom that was a bit smaller than we would have liked. If that is important to you, you might let the hotel know when you book. The metro is quite close and you couldn't get much closer to the antiquities. The common rooms are beautifully decorated and comfortable. We sat in the interior courtyard two evenings playing cards. Very pleasant and quiet, especially for being in the heart of Rome. We also ate one dinner in the hotel; it was very good and a fair price, not to mention having the chance to interact with Mr. Kahn and another guest, a native Italian, for interesting hours-long conversation. The wi-fi was free, but sometimes intermittent--we were too busy to be bothered. This is a great place to stay, particularly if you are interested in the major antiquities sites.

Room Tip: Room 55 offers a view of the Coliseum from the balcony, although wi-fi connection was sketchy.

A great little hotel hidden away with a view of the Coleseum. The rooms are small and furnished with typical Italian inlaid furniture. Each room is slightly different. The beds are small but very comfortable and the linen and towels are all of good quality. There is a roof top terrace that enjoys some great views of Rome. The on suits are all modern with showers and plenty of hot water. Used this as a base for a short city break, would definately use again, the breakfasts are great with a large choice of breads and cheeses, cereals, fruit, yogurt and fresh pastries. Didn't have evening meals there but the restaurant always had guests

Room Tip: Try a get a level 6 room with terrace.

This was our first stay in the Hotel Lancelot and the most impressive thing for us was the extraordinary level of staff helpfulness, charm and efficiency. Every single person we dealt with was exemplary and the hotel itself is comfortable, well-located, clean and a pleasure to come home to every night. The food is also very good. Breakfast is generous and tasty and the one dinner we had on the night of our arrival was very good by hotel standards.

Rooms are a good size and bathrooms and showers very adequate. A questionnaire we were asked to fill out by the hotel leads me to think management may be planning some property facelifts which will only improve an already comfortable environment. There is free wi-fi throughout and a computer room for free use by guests. There are also land-line phones in the rooms and cable TV.

Mrs. Kahn and her staff stand out for the service they provide and we shall be happy to return to the Colloseum neighborhood and the Lancelot when we return to Rome.
Many thanks for a comfortable and memorable sojourn in your hotel.

Two of us stayed in a double room with twin beds and one stayed in a single room at Hotel Lancelot for 3 nights a few days ago. The rooms were beautifully decorated with antiques. The hotel staff was gracious and helpful. We loved the round tables with the opportunity to meet other guests during breakfast & dinner. Lovely breakfast buffet and elegant dinner. The owner joined us for dinner our last night and added to the great conversation at our table. I highly recommend this hotel. We would certainly stay there again. Great location for sight-seeing too.

We stayed in May 2013 for the last two nights of our three week honeymoon, and it was amazing! They allowed us to store our luggage for two nights as we were going to Capri first, and we really appreciated that! We booked the room with a view of the Coliseum, and I was so glad to have the extra room. It had a large bathroom with a great soaking tub, and a beautiful and open family room, and bedroom, with one large terrace with a view of the Coliseum. The staff were warm and hospitable, the breakfast was good, and the location was wonderful. The two nights we were there we went to the grocery store around the corner for beer and wine, and the hotel was gracious enough to give us glasses, and bottle openers to use. This is a great property, and I can't wait to return in the future!

Room Tip: Splurge and upgrade to the Coliseum suite!

We stayed for eight nights at this hotel. The desk staff was very helpful; offering transportation tips to us. However....our room was "just a room", and seemed average, compared to others in Europe we've stayed in. This place offered dinner at a reasonable price, but the atmosphere of the dining area seemed "socially uneasy" and even awkward to me. I also did not like that your room would smell of what they cooked that evening. And, not sure why, but tissues and soap were non-existent by the end of our stay, in spite of leaving our housemaid tips. Upon checking out, my husband had to ask for Rick Steves discount, which is offered in his book, and we mentioned this discount when we made the reservation. Awkward, again.

Room Tip: A room with a balcony helped.
