My husband and I recently returned from our honeymoon which included 3 nights in Rome. When planning our trip, we conducted an exhaustive (and exhausting) search for the perfect hotel, and finally decided on the Lancelot. We could not have been more pleased with our choice! The hotel is lovely throughout. Our room was large by European standards, clean, nicely decorated and with a good-sized modern bath. The hotel is on a quiet street, so the outside noises were not unplesant. However we heard no noise at all from outside when the windows were closed, and never any noise from within the hotel. The Lancelot is full of lovely details, including hallway doors on each floor that I understand were installed recently to meet fire codes, but are hand-made works of art created by the talented Ferris (more about him later) and I believe his handy brother-in-law. (Sorry if I got the story wrong guys!) We enjoyed the smoothest double esspressos we've ever had in the bar. Breakfasts included good breads and pastries, a bounty of spreads, cereals, juices, coffee... and the dinners were to die for. Ferris, we learned is not only part of the owning family and a charming host, but the chef! Sign up for dinner ahead of time, and you will be treated to a world-class multi-course dinner. We also found the location to be perfect -- near the Colloseum and Roman Forum, but really fairly near everything as we found Rome to be very walkable. Most of all though, the staff was so warm and helpful -- and multi-lingual which was nice.
All in all a great experience, and we will definitely stay at the Lancelot again for any future trips to Rome.
