Location is excellent for tourists – there are ancient Roman ruins on the other side of the street and the Colosseum and Pallantine Hill are nearby. It is also close to a Metro rail station (you can walk to the station, buy a ticket and be on the platform in 10 minutes) – this makes it easy to get to the Vatican Museums etc. Staff were pleasant and helpful and spoke English. They even laugh at bad jokes they must have heard a thousand times before. Be warned that the shower cubicle in the room is small, although this is the norm in Europe. Breakfast service was exceptional – as soon as you sit down plates of food are brought to your table (breakfast is included in the room tariff).

The hotel is tucked in behind the Imperial Forums (okay, Fora) and is within steps of some of the greatest sites of ancient Rome. Even better, its location on a small side street makes it unusually quiet for this noisy city. I recommend it for anyone, like me, who has trouble falling asleep to the sound of traffic.

My room (7) was small, but comfortable. I had to go to the lobby to use the wireless internet because there is an intervening stone wall. I believe many of the rooms have wireless in the room, but mine did not.

The staff was friendly and helpful. I was working while I was there and so had to spend several hours each day on my laptop in the breakfast room. They made me feel welcome, but left me alone except for occasionally offering to get me something. Very nice.

My only quibble is that they turn the A/C off each day when the clean and you have to go to the front desk to ask them to turn it on again. I would suggest that they do this automatically during hot weather.

Overall, I was very pleased.

I recently stayed in Hotel Nerva for 6 days (Oct 15 - 20th 2009..high ^5 to the other groups staying there =)~) and it was fantastic!! My wife and I had room 1 on the bottom floor while family including a 6yr old had a larger room with loft area on third floor. Our room was very nice in size and even had a backdoor to a very small outdoor garden area in the back. There was one other hotel room door that looked to have access to this small, private garden but I never saw a single person besides my wife and I out there throughout our whole stay. It was a great area to stretch out and rest the feet after a long day of sightseeing while enjoying a glass of wine without feeling like you were "stuck indoors" for the night. Was also nice to check the temp and sky in the morning so we had a better idea of what to wear without going through breakfast and lobby area to the outdoors. Sometimes we would bring a few lunches from all the nearby deli's and carry-outs from the near by restaurants into the garden for a great little private yet outdoor (very cozy Italian feel back there with the old buildings rising up all around you with classic looking vines hangin down and all..i really loved it!) picnic. It is Rome and it is in a GREAT LOCATION so we didn't spend too much time in the room/hotel with so much being so close by. Ruins all around you (as soon as you walk out hotel front door), Colosseum is walking distance to the left once you exit hotel and capital building, pantheon and Trevi fountain are to the right with heaps and heaps of ruins, shops and markets of all sorts very close.
This was much more than a trip/vacation as we all went in honor of our grandmother we lost last year and the STAFF at the Nerva really helped to tie everything in together. The 2 lady's working the breakfast service were simply excellent!! My wife was running late one morning and the Filipino girl made a nice tray with whatever I wanted for her to eat in the room since she was still getting ready. Its the little things like that especially after being in a foreign land for 3 weeks (traveled other areas of Italy and Spain before Rome/Nerva stop) that really made things nice and easy going. The younger guy working the morning/noon shift always had my wife and I laughing even if it was a brief comment while we were walking to/from our room.

Once we returned home and were in the midst of jet-lag and travel fatigue, before we could lay in our bed for the first time in 3 weeks my wife said, we really need to go back to Rome next year and be sure you book us back at Nerva...lol

The Hotel Nerva is a perfact location for sightseeing on foot in ancient Rome. We walked to the Spanish Steps, the Colosium, the forum, the Trevi Fountain to name just a few. We would definately stay there again. Our host Paolo and Anna made us feel at home and were always there to help us decide where to eat and where to go.

Hotel Nerva is in a great location. The staff were wonderful and very helpful. The room was small but clean - only issue was the shower which was extremely small and had a strange tub base where it was two levels, like two big steps. Definitely would be a struggle for a large person or an older person with any kind of limited mobility. That is the only reason I would not give the hotel 5 stars though.
