Hotel Nerva is indeed a very pleasant place to stay. I would say that there is no hotel in a better location. The hotel is located approximately 200 metres from the main road leading up to the Colosseum, the Forum and the Trajan Markets to name but a few of the sites.
As it is down a small side road it is pretty quiet which is great as the area is absolutely packed during the day. One thing to note is that there is not actually a footpath outside of the Hotel and you have run a bit of a gauntlet for aobut 20 metres before you reach the safety of a pavement. That said both my 85 year old Grandmother and I survived!
The staff at the Nerva Hotel were very pleasant and helpful. I have no complaints there. The staff speak good English and there was no language barriers. I travelled to Rome with my 85 year old Grandmother who doesn't enjoy stairs! The manager was very accomodating; having a ground floor room made available to her.
The single rooms there are fairly Spartan but comfortable. There is a small television and a fair sized bed with an orthopaedic mattress which I found to be comfortable. The rooms are quite small but as I wasn't spending much time in the hotel it wasn't a problem.
The included breakfast was very good. Italian croissants and coffee are the highlights.
The hotel is very good value for money because of it's location. Had it not been so ideally placed I would have said it would been slightly expensive.
There are two restaurants right around the corner from the hotel. The Alle Carratte pizzeria and La Taverna dei Fori Imperiali. Both serving delicious food for very reasonable prices, I wholeheartedly recommend both.
All in all an excellent hotel.
