We are a family with 2 children 9 and 15. We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Nerva. Their hospitality was very much appreciated. The breakfast was superb and the coffee exceptional. Breakfast consists of sugar coated croissants, cheese and meat, toast, bread, different cakes each day, fruit and delicious coffee. But try not to be late for breakfast. The loft room was very big which was not expected and we loved the view from the window of the street out front. You could see the forum in the distance. There was also a small window in the loft which looked out over the courtyard. The elevator is small but big enough for 2 people with luggage. We used the stairs to go to our room on the second floor the rest of the week. The room could hold 5 people. There were 2 single beds up in the loft and one small bed next to the queen bed in the main room. The bathroom was quite large with a tub and shower combined, sink, toilet and bidet. The street out front is narrow so be careful when you step out the door because they drive pretty fast and erratic in Rome. We heard no noise while sleeping and loved to open the glass doors and shutters in the morning for a breath of fresh air. There was an ashtray in the room but there was no odor in the room at all. The Wi-Fi worked in the breakfast area and on the first floor only. We were told only 4 computers could be on at the same time but we never had a problem the few times we needed it. There are plenty of places to eat 2 blocks away an ATM and souvenir shops too. The hotel made 2 dinner reservations for us and the rest of the week we ate at a corner outdoor restaurant which had great food or around Rome. Don’t forget to eat Gelato which is Italy’s ice cream but buy it from an indoor store not a street cart because I was told it tastes much better. We had no problems with pick pockets or homeless bothering us. Just always be aware of your surroundings. We walked to the Pantheon, Piazza Navona, Trevi fountain, Forum and coliseum. Took a tour of the Vatican set up by the Hotel and it was a great tour. We took the Metro to Galleria Borghese and park. And don’t forget to set up an appointment to see the gallery if you are going. They only give you a 2 hour window to see the gallery. We also walked back from Castel Sant’ Angelo which was quite a distance but the streets were quite interesting. We took a horse and carriage ride from the Spanish steps to the coliseum one evening. They were also kind to us which made our stay in Rome that much better. The sites in Rome were incredible and we can not wait to go back again and stay in this breathtaking country. We would recommend Hotel Nerva and would stay there again. Our coins were tossed into the Trevi fountain!

Hotel Nerva has a great location close to the forum on a quiet street. We heard no street noise at all. The hotel is family owned and operated. The staff -- particularly Anna -- were very friendly and helpful in every way. On the other hand, our room was on the small side and was a little tattered. The bathroom was clean, but the shower was miniscule. I would not recommend this hotel for anyone on the hefty side because it would be difficult to fit in the shower. If you drop your soap, you better be able to do deep knee bends. We have stayed in a number of hotels in Italy, and by comparison the breakfast at Nerva was below average. Others have remarked on this hotel being a good value, but I thought it was a little pricey for the quality. You are paying for the location.

We loved our stay at the Hotel Nerva in Rome. This 3-star hotel should be qualified as 4-star! We stayed in one of the "newly added rooms"... very nice, clean & spacious. Bathroom was a bit tight for space but typical for any European stay. The only problem we encountered was with the shower "water pressure" at times. Otherwise, every aspect of our stay was excellent! You must choose "room w/ breakfast". If you choose "room only" you are missing a treat! The breakfast was excellent... fresh fruit, sweet breads, meat/cheese and the best espresso or cafe' around! This is the typical European breakfast. The family members that own Hotel Nerva were very friendly and helpful at every turn. The location of this hotel is absolutely ideal... blocks from many major historical sights, all in good walking distance. Hotel Nerva is one of the best kept secrets in all of Rome!

We also found this hotel using Rick Steves, and as his opinion was seconded by Trip Advisor reviews, decided to book it for 3 nights. Couldn't have been happier. The location is on a relatively quiet (for Rome) one-way side street right next to part of the Imperial Forum and only a few blocks from the Colosseum. Plenty of good restaurants nearby. Included breakfast was more than adequate and the cappuccino delicious. Anna, Paolo and Antonio were extremely helpful and speak excellent English. Rooms and baths not that small by European standards. Only negative is the size of the shower stall- miniscule. Hotel is very clean and totally charming. Wish we could have stayed longer.

We were very pleased with Hotel Nerva. We were always greeted cheerfully by the staff and they were very helpful, showing us tourist attractions on the map, making coffee "American style," organizing our taxi to the airport and making us feel very welcome and at home. The rooms were small, but very comfortable and clean. Although the shower was also small, the water pressure and hot water were great. The windows are double paned and the shutters block out the light, so you can get a great night sleep here, even though it is in a noisy and high traffic area. The breakfast was also very good. We stayed here twice during our vacation, and loved it both times. We would definitely return.
