Beautiful piece of architecture and a carnival like atmosphere with sketch artists and people selling wares. Also a nice place to sit and people watch if you don't mind the sun. Of course it is gross to see a McDonald's at the food of the steps but shutter your eyes as you walk by it.

Saw the spanish steps and agree that it is a very nice vista, but nothing on the colosseum or some of the other attractions in Rome.
Still it is at the top of one of the most famous shopping streets in Rome, and I guess that combination is reasonably special.

When we found them we were a little under whelmed, they’re not as spectacular as many of the other attractions in Rome, but worth a look as passing if only to tick them off your list, as others have said! Still a very popular attraction, loads of people sat on them, and probably a very good place to arrange to meet people.
On the plus side, there are loads of shops and restaurants down the streets not far away!

(In May) absolutely heaving with people - at all hours. Really you couldn't tell there were steps here at all.

Don't get me wrong, it's very pretty and definitely one you should include in your itinerary - if only to tick it off and say you've been there.
