“A very good place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

We have stayed in this hotel a few times and found it to be very special. The Management have obviously given a great deal of thought to every aspect of this Hotel.
When we stay in Rome this will always be our first choice.

Some earlier mixed reviews caused me to worry what it was going to be like but we had no issues at all. Every member of staff was polite and helpful, from those working in reception, the downstairs bar (Zahid) and upstairs restaurant where breakfast is served (Ripon-hope I spelt it correctly), and we spent ages talking to the maintenance man (Malik) to learn about real life and any problems for people who live in Rome.
Absolutely first class cleanliness in rooms and whole of hotel.
In terms of the district, the hotel is in the suburbs but that's why it's peaceful there. The top class Crowne Plaza is a few mins walk down the same road and is much more expensive. There are some religious colleges in the same road. Hence its a very quiet and peaceful area. It's just a 10 mins walk to Cornelia district where you can catch the bus or Metro into the city centre, and there are plenty of restaurants and shops around. If you have bought next day tickets in advance or a 3 day Travelcard, then there is a bus stop outside the hotel to save doing the walk to Cornelia.
The Metro only takes 5-10 mins to Ottavia station for the Vatican and 20 mins to Termini for the centre of Rome.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone.

I stayed at this stylish hotel with 3 friends in November, the rooms are comfy and very clean, providing hairdryer, fridge, tv, and a good supply of toiletries. The breakfast is very varied to suit all tastes and presented well. The staff were fantastic and looked after us from the moment we arrived, nothing was too much trouble!. The bus stops right outside the Hotel which is an added bonus. We had 3 very busy days in Rome and the ESH makes a good base to return to. Would certainly recommend and hope to be back some day.

Hotel is a little out of the way but accessible with a 10 min walk from the nearest metro although the pavement on this road does leave a bit to be desired. Having said that ESH is stylish, the rooms being very good indeed. Would have only been improved with a bit more lighting. Everything is spotless. And.. a rarity.. the windows actually open! Result! The staff are all very helpful and pleasant. Good standard of breakfast as well. All in all a very comfortable stay.
The building is an ex nunnery (possibly built in the '50s) and on the same road as several papal "departments" - eg music and missionary complexes... that'll account for the clock chimes of a full rendition of Ave Maria at 6pm every night. Added to the ambiance and not at all annoying.

We got two nights at the hotel with breakfast as part of a package deal. The rooms were spacious, breakfast spread generous and staff very welcoming. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from Cornelia metro station and the area has a few fast food joints and small shops. I would certainly consider using it again if we visited Rome.

Stayed at this place for 3 nights. Before you get carried away the Roman ruins is the 400 yr old walls surrounding the hotel. Close to bus and train. Transport is safe and easy. Staff are helpful and friendly especially the bar man. Sorry I can't remember your name.. Recommend getting some pasta delivered to your room one evening via the room service. Also recommend sitting down at the bar a meeting travellers! Kiwis are awesome. Enjoy!

Room Tip: Use the local train station or bus outside to get anywhere. There is a restaurant 100 meters down th...

Not that close to the city centre although Reception staff were helpful with directions to public transport and timetables. Driving to and from the airport is minimal so convenient for business travellers. Room were spaceous, modern and well equipped with free internet in the lobby. Bedding was extremely comfortable, everything in the room was clean and well presented. Breakfast buffet on the 5th floor was disappointing..very ordinary in comparison to hotels with the same star rating. A white fiberous cloth that covered most of the ceiling and window glass had serious evidence of dust and mold in the folds that may be considered a health hazard for a restaurant. Something the management needs to look into. Drinks from the lobby bar are reasonably priced and the barman provided exceptional customer service. Overall a good place to stay for a quite and relaxing time.

Room Tip: Better views from higher floors. Most rooms are excellent
