“Can't wait to visit again in 2013”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

Me and my wife stayed at Locanda del Sole from 12/11/12 - 18/11/12 on our honeymoon.

After spending an inordinate amount of time looking at various luxury hotels without any luck, we finally decided on the Locanda del Sole. At first we were dubious at the 'B&B' tag, but as soon as the blacked out windowed Merc (pre-booked by Marco) greeted us at the airport all doubts were soon put to bed. (50 Euros each way but well worth it)

Upon arrival, we were greeted by Marco (the cuppuccino king) who explained in great detail where the Locanda was located in conjunction with the local sights etc. The most impressive, friendly and personal check-in I've ever witnessed.

We stayed in the 'Berger' room and were amazed as soon as we opened the door. There was a complimentary bottle of top-notch wine, 12 red roses for my wife and rose petals scattered around the bathroom! A perfect start to our honeymoon.

As we enjoyed a couple of bottles of wine most nights and in turn missed the 08:00-10:00 breakfast, we were still offered a bite to eat and a superb cappucinno which was served with genuine enthusiasm and passion. The complimentary breakfast included pan-au-choc, croissants, cereal, fruit, parma ham, mortadella ham and various cheeses. We fell in love with a spreadable breakfast cheese called 'stratticchio' which was delicious. (A must try for cheese lovers!!)

The 3 brothers that own the Locanda are a font of local knowledge and can recommend any type of trip, experience or night out to you require. We were recommended to try 'Alfredo's Ristorante' (over the road) and also the bars in Travestre district, we were not disappointed.

Location: You can turn left or right when you leave the accomodation and within 5 minutes you can be in a cool suburb, backstreet cafe, designer boutique or major historical monument.

Overall this was by far the best place we've ever stayed; smart, cool, informal, pretty & romantic. It was a pleasure to stay there but also a gutter to leave!

Thanks again to the Locanda del Sole for making our honeymoon perfect!!

Hopefully we'll see you in 2013.

Mr & Mrs Chappell

Room Tip: Pay the extra if possible and stay in the 'Berger' suite.

We have just returned from a great 3 night stay in Rome at Laconda del Sole Luxury B&B in Rome. It was amazing! We loved our room (Butterfly Room), quiet at night, loved our location - walking distance to Rome's major attractions, VERY helpful staff with airport transfer, reservations, dinner suggestions - whatever we asked was never a problem. Breakfast was ample and the cafe latte excellent - any time of the day!! First time having Lindt Champagne chocolate!! Mini bar was free and refilled daily - loved the red wine and Proseco. Would HIGHLY recommend staying at this beautiful B&B. What a wonderful place to retreat to after a busy day discovering Rome. ENJOY!!

Room Tip: They are all good - we didn't see any other rooms- the finishings were very high quality and eve...

My wife and I stayed here in the Butterfly room for a week. This was a much better experience than the various hotels we have used in the past. The room is very solid with a beautiful high wood beam ceiling. Even though it overlooks the street it is very quiet at night and one sleeps well on a good mattress. The hospitality is as excellent as other reviewers have described so well. You have your own private concierge just a few steps away! The Sole brothers grew up right in this area and have excellent recommendations. Be sure to eat at Campana, Hosteria 31, or Orso 80; all great food and value. As we had an early flight Emiliano came in early to make sure we had breakfast and helped us down the stairs with our luggage. Cannot recommend too highly.

My husband and I stayed here in September for our honeymoon in Rome. We stayed 4 nights in the butterfly room and 3 nights in the berger suite. Both rooms were absolutely beautiful and we couldn't have asked for better hosts. Marco and Pierluigi greeted us on arrival and offered us coffee and cake before showing us to our room. They had put a beautiful bunch of roses on the bed since it was our honeymoon which was such a nice gesture! and also a bottle of white wine. The room was stunning and there was a free minibar (and chocolates) for the duration of our stay. They also gave us great advice on places to eat etc. They are from the area so nobody better to ask!

Emiliano served us breakfast every morning and the best cappuccino I have ever tasted!as well as a gorgeous selection of pastries! Emiliano was so nice and helpful throughout our stay, nothing was too much trouble and he really was one of the nicest hosts we have ever met!

This is really a special place, we are so glad to have stayed here for our honeymoon and hope to come back again some day. The area is also very safe and has a great selection of restaurants. It is truly the most perfect place to stay in Rome

What a quaint hotel with the feeling for Rome. The room was comfortable, bed was great and breakfast was light but very refreshing. Marco was SO helpful and such a pleasure to visit with. The minibar was stocked daily and was free. It is within 30 minutes walking to all major sites and even closer to the Pantheon and Trevi Fountain. We really enjoyed our stay!

The owners have poured heart and soul into this beautiful bed & breakfast. We stayed 2 nights in Sept '12 and wished it would have been longer. Our room (there are 3) was Ghirigori. Not overly huge, but so charming with a beamed ceiling, opulant bedding, and lovely en-suite bathroom. The feeling is exceptionally private. Such quiet surroundings in a perfect location. It took only 10 minutes to reach Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, and the Pantheon. The owners have a personal connection to non-touristy restaurants and make excellent recommendations, upon request. Without a doubt, their presentation of cappuccinos is unrivaled. They are offered to guests with such great pleasure! This establishment is truly a diamond.

We stayed four nights in the Butterfly room on our first visit to Rome. When we return, we will certainly choose Locanda del Sole. The area became more attractive the longer we stayed and is really convenient for visiting the Vatican and other classic sights such as Piazza Navona, Pantheon, and Spanish Steps. We were able to walk to most places. The accommodation was clean and superbly furnished with a designer bed, and a nice en-suite with great shower. The attention to detail is excellent, with a nice breakfast including delicious pasties and fantastic coffee (don't be afraid to try an espresso). Marco and Emiliano organised the best visits for us and really made it easy for us to see the sights. They also gave great recommendations for where to eat where the Romans eat and away from the tourist traps. If you want to know where to try "Tripa alla Romana", Marco is your man! They say that "we are entirely at your disposal for any information, queries or requests" - and I think they mean it!
