“Worth the visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2012 via mobile

I had been to Rome many times and always hit the same sites. This time I was on my own for a day so chose to see things off the main path. First stop was St. John Lateran. This is the pope's parish. The high church of Rome. It is a beautiful structure and profoundly moving place. The beauty. the awe-inspiring art and architecture take your breathe away. A must see!

“Accidental Wonder”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

Didn't know the history or importance of this church. It is the Archbasilica of Rome and is MORE important to the church than St Peters. The pope MUST officiate church here before he is considered the "official" head of the Catholic Church. Beautiful and impressive.

“Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 2, 2012

The original Vatican. Amazing. Its not a main tourist attraction but should be. The area and the Vatican is a place where you can admire the art and just spend a quiet day.

“Huge!”

A massive and wonderful church. Catch it during the lunch periods or early mornings to avoid the crowds and photo takers!

“Very old, Very big, Impressive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 1, 2012

This was just about the first church in Rome in the 4C and the size and grandeur reflect the early popes living here. Lots of memorable features and beauty to admire.
