“Moses, Moses, Moses!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

Just go to look at the Moses. You can almost see the hair follicles on the arms. Legend is that Michelangelo hit the statue on the knee after finishing and shouted "Speak, damn you!". Maybe his greatest work. Go before or after colosseum.

“Miracle chains and Michelangelo”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 9, 2012

The interior church decor was restrained compared to that of other churches in Rome. Near the front is a special glass chest, and inside are chains... they are reputed to be both the chains St. Peter wore in Jerusalem and the chains he wore in Rome - miraculously fused together. Take the story with a grain of salt, but relics and icons are cool anyway. In a side alcove is Michelangelo's sculpture of Moses - incredible. The church is walking distance from the coliseum - actually, most everything in Rome is walking distance from everything else! Go around the corner of the church, down a flight of steps to a main road and there are several good restaurants.

“Home of the Best Creation of Michelangelo, Moses”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012

Well hidden, in the quiet little streets, on a hill up from the well traveled via Cavour, (stairs up from right across Grand Hotel Palatino), sits San Pietro in Vincoli Basilica, where the visitors could view the chains of St. Peter and the last and in my opinion the most valuable sculpture of Michaelangelo Buonarotti: Moses.

“Beautiful Church, wonderful relics”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012

This beautiful Church had the chains that Peter wore when he was imprisoned in Rome. Definitely worth the effort to visit this Church. A must see.

“Moses & St Peter's chains”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2012

Moses by Michelangelo is the highlight. Disliked having to pay to light the statue--there was a light timer and payment box for a few minutes.
Don't forget to view the chains that held St Peter under the high altar. Be sure to also visit St Paul's Outside the Walls
