My mother and I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in October. It was absolutely wonderful. We had a view of the square below us, and if we turned our heads, we had the most wonderful view of the Pantheon. Thought the square is very busy, with the windows closed there was no noise at all. The rooms was decorated nicely, and we had plenty of room in own twin bedded room on the 4th (their 3rd) floor. Also, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I highley recommend this hotel for its location, its staff, and the charm.

This hotel worked out great for our family. The location in unbeatable! You literally look at the Pantheon out of your window. We stayed in the annex and it worked out great for our family of 4. The rooms were spotless. Yes, it may seem a little dark, but this hotel is the oldest hotel in Rome! We loved the history that comes along with the hotel. The breakfast was fantastic and the staff was very helpful. I would definitely stay a this hotel again!

First, I'm not sure if it's this Albergo del Sole that claims to be Rome's oldest hotel or if it's the Albergo Del Sole Al Biscione 76 near the Campo dei Fiori. Anyway, this one is right in the Pantheon plaza. The front desk clerk and bellhop were first rate: among other things, they searched the Internet for 15 minutes for other hotels (as they were booked the next night.) The breakfast was the best of any hotel during our trip; they had this egg on toast concoction that was delicious.

Our suite was huge: the downstairs was a big living room with enough room for yoga/exercise. The top main bedroom more than ample, but the bathroom was very small in relation to everything else. The bed was very comfortable. The view…well, please see the photo.

We loved this place, it was a major highlight of our trip.

I have stayed at many of the 5 star hotels in Rome, last one being the Westin Excelsior. This hotel was by far the best we have stayed at for many reasons and I think it is a four star. Prominent Reasons to stay here are: Service and Location. The manager, Maurizio, is kind and gracious and reccomended some great things to do and eat. He is super at making your vacation special. What a nice man and his staff is terrific. One fabulous place he reccomended was Le Volte, which is a cafe around the corner and had a vaulted ceiling believed to be painted by Michangelo. It is family run and a great find. We kept find ourselves ignoring our travel reecomendations and eating there because it was fun and really good food. The hotel is superbly located---We got in a cab once to go the Vatican and that was only because it was early and the furthest. Everywhere else including all the churches in De Vinci Code book were walkable for my teenage son. We LOVED staying here because when you open up the window you know you are in Rome. Our room overlooked the Pantheon. Everywhere else we have stayed was beautiful but we could have been at a four seasons hotel anywhere in the world. This is Rome, it's flavors, its history, and its amusements. The plaza outside the hotel had street violinists and varous acts to entertain the plazza lined cafes and provided my son the chance to people watch from the room. Food was just out side your room so my son could go grab a pizza. The Hotel food was a nice morning spread to carry thru lunch so you can get to sightseeing and not fuss with breakfast. They had enough of everything to not get tired in our 6 day stay. It was beautifully presented. I will never stay anywhere else. Wake up in Rome! This is the life! I live in Santa Barbara California so I must admit I am spoiled and this hotel definately met my expectations!
