My family and I stayed at the Eden two weeks ago. The staff was lovely. The rooms we were given were spacious and beautifully decorated. This is a hotel with real old world charm. Its location is superb, just two blocks from the Spanish Steps and a lovely walk from the Trevi Fountain area. I look forward to returning to this hotel.

We stayed at this delightful hotel for three nights and enjoyed every minute of our stay. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and attentive - remembering your name and preferences.

We had a room on the 5th floor facing the road - which could be a llittle noisy in the morning, but no more then you would expect of a city. Our room was a little small but the wardrobe and cupboard area are separate which gives a feeling of space. One thing I loved was the llinen sheets - a real treat.

The hotel is well situated - access to all sights and delilghts are easy - either by foot or cab. We didn't use the underground but there were two stations close by so it is a reasonble option if that is your choice.

The view from the restaruant is fabulous - seriously hard to beat and drinks in the bar each evening, overlooking the city was a real treat. Breakfasts are also excellent - plenty of choice and can be taken in the bar or on the roof terrace, which I imagine would be glorious in the summer.

The restaurant is also very good - the view alone makes it worth a visit. All in all we had an excellent stay and would definetly return.

My husband and I stayed at the Eden in October during a trip to Rome to celebrate my 40th birthday. We had just come from the Four Seasons in Florence which was spectacular. Sadly it was a let-down to arrive at the Eden. The staff was nice upon our arrival but not overly friendly. The room we booked was very small and the bathroom was absolutely tiny. The decor was dated and the bed was not comfortable. I will say the rooftop bar and restaurant have extraordinary views of the city. But that's the only nice thing I can think of about this hotel.

We also didn't like the location -- I felt like we were staying in the business district which was not at all charming. We stayed before at the Hotel Minerva which we think is in a much better location (very near the Pantheon), has a much nicer and friendlier staff and bigger rooms -- all for 200 euros less a night.

If you are looking for a luxury hotel during your stay in Rome -- this hotel is not it! Next time we will stay at the Minerva again or maybe try the Hassler.

Management response from Duncan_Bramwell, Manager

Dear Texasgirl
Thank you for your feedback. It is unfortunate that you have only alerted us to your comments some six months after your stay as this makes it difficult for us to address the points you raised.
We are pleased that you found our staff to be so delightful, and we pride ourselves on such comments. At The Eden, luxury and service go hand in hand. This is precisely the experience we believe must be provided when staying in a luxury hotel.
I was surprised to read your comments about our location - being located at the top of the famous Spanish Steps is a highly sought after and prestigious address. However we respect that location is a personal choice and not everyone desires such a central and desirable location.
We would welcome the opportunity to welcome you back to our hotel on your next visit to our city. We would love to delight you!
Yours sincerely

I must admit, this is the first hotel that we did not book in accordance with Trip Advisor, but I'm glad that was the case. Some of the reviews for the hotel were a little bit negative, but we had an excellent experience at the Hotel Eden. It is a pricey place but you get what you pay for. Our room was immaculately clean and had a wonderful view of the street and window access to a terrace where there were tables and chairs set for sunbathing. The bathroom was large and spacious and we still rave about the shower being one of the best hotel showers we've experienced in Europe. The staff were extremely helpful and tended to our every whim and concern, which, although to be expected at this price point, doesn't always occur in other hotels of equal calibre. We participated in formal afternoon tea twice while we were there--a wonderful experience in front of the fire, especially given the cold spell that descended on Rome that week--and had dinner in the terrace restaurant once. Even if you don't stay at this hotel, be sure to eat at the restaurant. It is worthy of its reputation. The location of the hotel was excellent, only 10 minutes' walk from the Spanish Steps, the Pantheon, and the Trevi Fountain. There are also a number of wonderful little restaurants and gelaterias close by. All in all, give this grand old hotel a chance. You could find more modern accomodations, but you are unlikely to find the charm or level of service.

I've been staying at The Eden for more than a decade, for both for business and pleasure. Each time I leave makes me want to return even more.

The size of the hotel is perfect: smaller than a little boutique, but nowehere near large enough to feel like a big hotel. The location is nothing short of perfect as well. A five minute walk to the Spanish Steps, the Via Veneto, or Piazza Barberini. and it is extremely tastefully decorated. It's like staying in a private villa. Very elegant, yet very comfortable.

What makes the hotel very special however, is the staff. Starting with the hotel general manager, Marcel Levy, and right on down, they are the top of the list as far as service and giving attention.

We have a nearly four year old (this was his second visit to the Eden), and the staff in the hotel, in particular the breakfast room, made him feel like The Principe during our entire stay. Their personal attention, enthusatically offered, is why I keep going back. Same with the bar staff in the elegant roof top lounge -- offering one of the best views in Rome. They are all superb.

There are always little things that could be better -- for instance having to ask for a room upgrade as a Platinum member when the hotel was pretty empty pre-Christmas. No need for that really, especially since I was paying a pretty good rate, not staying on points.

But I chalk that up to the exception to the rule. This is a first class hotel run by incredibly professional, welcoming people. I doubt I'll ever stay anywhere else.
