“Nice Property”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

Beautiful hotel with a great view of the city. Fantastic location near the Spanish Steps. The prices in the bar are ridiculous, 16 Euros for a beer, but you are paying for the view. The service was excellent, if a bit stuffy.

Room Tip: I had a courtyard room which essentially means no view.

My mother and I went to Rome to celebrate her 75th birthday. The hotel was incredible. The staff helped us arrange everything (guides, transportation, tickets). Our room was comfortable and quiet with lovely old fashioned touches. Neighborhood was close to the Spanish Steps and good food. The park behind the hotel made it a great spot for a little exercise. I have absolutely recommended this hotel to my friends! Everything was so gracious and easy it was a pleasure to return at the end of each days excursions.

We traveled to Rome recently for a special occasion. The Hotel Eden is a special place. Near the Spanish Steps and the Villa Borghese in a very quiet area. All the staff at the hotel were super friendly and ready to assist. Our room was large and comfortable. The best of the hotel is the roof top with a restaurant, bar and semi-enclosed terrace. The view of a good part of Rome is spectacular and the service up there top notch and again very friendly. And very costly. Breakfast up top each morning with its view was a reminder of how beautiful Rome can be. We returned after many years and the Eden still had its charm. The week we spent in Rome was extraordinarily crowded with tourists as many schools all over had spring breaks or school trips to the city. The area where the Eden is located was a tranquility zone.

Rome is expensive and so is this hotel. One of the classy hotels of the city it does not disappoint. We selected it for its reputation and most importantly its location. Rooms were lovely and classic. I wish someone built a hotel in the center with great modern Italian design. Food was very good and again very expensive. Staff very friendly (is there an Italian who isn't?).

Dont get me wrong the hotel is beautiful, its well located and the breakfast are amazing! However there are a couple of ifs...
The worst selection of tv channels, clearly forcing you to pay for ppv movies, 15 euros per wifi in the room, those are things that an hotel that is supposed to be 5*L in Europe has to have in consideration, all the other hotels of my trip have better programming and free wifi.

But the thing that disappoint me was the service, the first thing that the lady in the reception told me was there is no reservation on your name, (i not only had a reservation but the room was already paid), the manager had to jump in an save the day, afterwards the lady lectured me and told me that I was very lucky to have the room... I just could not believe it.

Afterwards, I needed to have a PDF of an important document and I was in a hurry, they took half an hour and they did that for me after I practically begged for it. Those are things that simply cannot happen in a 5* hotel.

The view from the top floor is amazing, however when I get back to Rome I am sure I would not repeat the Eden.

We did not stay at this beautiful hotel although it was highly recommended to us by our travel agent. But while enjoying a glass of wine at street cafe a family suggested we go to the patio bar just for the experience and the view of Rome. So we took her up on her advice. Talk about luxury and elegance!! The view is amazing. Service impeccable. I too reccommend this as a "rest" stop as you do not have to be guest at the hotel to enjoy. Bit on the pricey side but we felt it was worth the price for the service and the view. Next time in Rome I will definitely stay here.

I booked the hotel through Citalia - a tour operator we regularly use and which I highly recommend. I knew nothing about the hotel beforehand, except that it was 5* and well regarded. The hotel is rather beautiful and has a vague art deco feel. Fixtures and fittings are luxurious, in palazzo style. Everything is beautifully clean and the service is excellent across the board, from Reception, Concierge, Restaurant down to cleaning and door staff. Everyone is professional, friendly and quick. We were upgraded from a Superior Double to a Deluxe Double. The room was a good size with a lovely marble bathroom with two sinks - always important! Slightly tired marble but clearly authentic and of good quality. The towels were changed morning and evening - even the bathrobes were changed daily. The bed was extremely comfortable. While the room was lovely, I was disappointed that we couldn't open the shutters throughout our stay of 4 nights. As we were on the first floor and near road (and traffic!) level, apparently it is law in Rome for shutters to be secured at all times. Although there would not have been a view anyway - as we faced the Borghese Gardens wall - it would have been nice to have the light. We lived in a slight gloom - needing all the lights on at all times. Inorder to find out what the weather was like, we had to step outside Reception! Also, the plumbing of the room above was quite intrusive - loud rushes of water when they were showering or letting the bathwater out. They were early risers! We would definitely stay again, but be more careful about the location of the room. Apart from our meal at the fantastic Terrazzo dell'Eden and our breakfast (which was included in the price of our stay) we didn't eat/drink anything in the hotel. Two pots of hot water and a collection of teabags cost 20 euros - ridiculous, despite the fabulous view. Breakfast was served in the Terrazzo restaurant, which, while enclosed, has stunning views of the Rome skyline. There were lots of Russians and Americans who may perhaps be more accustomed to paying 10 euros for a teabag. There are lovely coffee and tea shops around the vicinity of the hotel, so no need to have coffee/drinks at the hotel. Breakfast was excellent - everything hot and fresh, despite being a buffet. The waiters were extremely efficient and quietly attentive. Delicious cappuccinos. Bearing in mind our stay was largely in the dark (due to the shutters!), the breakfast view was the highlight.

Room Tip: Don't stay on the first floor as traffic is noisy in the daytime - quiet at night though. On th...
