5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

it was thanks to the many trip advisor reviews that led us to this hotel. We too were enthralled by its style, location, the proximity to all the attractions,The staff, in one word, brilliant. Would we return, if given the chance? Absolutely. Breakfasts were more then adequate, and the piazzo in which it was situated, next to the Pantheon, just buzzed after 5pm. This hotel has absolute class. Public transport was easy and cheap. 3 day tickets can be bought, covering th major attractions, which are value for money. I hope they read all these wonderful reviews.

Room Tip: facing the piazza gives you full view of the pantheon. Rooms are a bit on the small side, but you ar...

This hotel looks the part and lives up to all the glowing reviews. An impressive building in a wonderful lively location. All the major attractions are within walking distance with the Pantheon literally on the doorstep. It also has a great rooftop terrace with a bar in the warmer weather.

The staff are friendly, helpful, efficient and speak fluent English. We ate some great meals in the restaurants they recommended.

Our room was large, clean and well equipped with wide comfortable bed. The breakfast buffet had a good choice and was constantly topped up by the efficient waiting staff.

Highly recommended. We'll certainly be coming back.

Great location and a wonderful helpful staff. I would return there in a heart beat. The people at the fron desk went out of their way to be helpful and were always ready to be of assistance. The loaction being directly accross from the Pantheaon and an easy walk to the Trevi fountain and the Spanish steps was ideal.

Room Tip: Get a room on a higher floor overlooking the square.

Yes, this is a great hotel - but why ?
Well, it looks the part - standing there in the best location in Rome, next to the Pantheon,in this vibrant piazza, close to so many things you want to see. And because of its location, it has 'atmosphere' ; it has pizazz. And then there's the staff. Without doubt it has the staff. The staff on the desk are fantastic - Alessandra and Luca and Mouro. Luciano (and others who we didn't get to meet) make all the difference - full of wide-ranging knowledge, charm, good humour, always available, just full of straightforward 'niceness'. Warm, human people - a delight. These are the staff the visitor has most to do with - with whom one forges a relationship very quickly (and that's a great skill). But we found that the 'backroom' staff were just as good/nice - the breakfast room staff, the room staff, the porter staff - all are superb. Nothing is too much trouble for any member of staff. Ok - the breakfast room itself is perhaps a little small around 9.00am - but one soon identifies the best times to take breakfast; and the actual quality of the breakfast on offer is superb. Ok - perhaps the bathrooms aren't the largest you've seen - but why such a premium on size these days ? The quality of bathroom fitments and all the appendages is top class and you are staying in an unbeatable location.
The vibrancy of the crowded Rotonda Piazza is right there for you if you want it - just open the windows; if you don't - just close them and there is silence. There is a huge range of restaurants and cafes very close by. Wake up in the early morning and look out - you have the piazza to yourself - bliss. Come back to the hotel in the evening, through the crowds, and step lightly in to this superb hotel.... what a haven !
This was our first stay at the Senato. My wife and I stayed for a wonderful seven days, and without doubt we'll return. We shan't stay anywhere else in Rome hereafter - we've found the best.

Room Tip: We found that if you want a room overlooking the Piazza - request this and the hotel will do its bes...

Excellent hotel lovely surroundings and the staff were fantastic in every way possible had an amazing time .cant wait to go back .oh and the breackfast was very nice to all fresh and a good choice for a continental.we do recommend that you go a little bit further away from the main squares you will find small local bars and restaurants that are half the price.but it is nice to sit and people watch opposite something like the pantheon, but you could sit on the fountain steps with a lovely icecream for free .

It's either agony or ecstasy regarding Rome hotels! My husband and I go to Rome every year, and every year we usually stay in a different hotel. Next year, we shall return to the Senato, unless they follow the example of another prominently displayed Trip Advisor hotel which raised its rates dramatically when its ratings went up. We obviously did not return there and chose the Senato because of its no. 1 rating.
The public rooms are very attractive; our room was a standard but of a good size with a nice bathroom with tub-shower combination. We were gifted with slippers, and terry robes were available. The breakfast was one of the very best we have experienced, and the people at the desk were friendly and forthcoming with tips for restaurants, etc. Serena, at the bar and breakfast area, was very gracious. When we missed the 10 o'clock breakfast deadline, she served us coffee and tea with cake in the bar.
My favorite location in Rome is the Pantheon area, so this was perfect. We always love to take walks after dinner, and the square is so festive with people eating and chattering outside, music, men launching blue flares into the sky..Of course, Giolitti, famous for icecream, is down the street, as well as the Tazza D'Oro for coffee. I particularly like the nondescript bar on the nearby Via dell'Orso for great coffee and even better croissants.
I just got back, and I'm nostalgic for the Hotel del Senato already!

My husband and I ended our two week vacation in Italy with a stay in Rome at the Albergo del Senato along with seven other members of my extended family. From the moment we arrived, the staff was warm and welcoming and could not have been more helpful to us and my family in explaining Rome and various activities. They even went so far as to send prosecco and treats to my parent's room because they noticed it was my mom's birthday on her passport. Seriously, this team goes above and beyond.

The rooms were beautiful and clean, and spacious (by European standards) with very nice bathrooms. A quick and easy walk to most of the main highlights of the city. Highly recommend!
