“Wear comfortable shoes!”

If you have purchased a ticket to the colosseum then chances are this will include free entry into this attraction. Well worth checking out and you will be in history overload. Allow a couple of hours to expire the ruins but a great opportunity to take photos as the view is fantastic.

“Beautiful!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2015 NEW

Palatine Hill is a beautiful place full of lots of different quirky things! You can see the old buildings and the arches. You also can walk up to the top of the hill and have a great view of the Forum and the Colosseum.

“Amazing views”

Great place to take photos and take in a bird's eye perspective of the forum and and other ancient sites! Be prepared for a little bit of trek but well worth it.

“My Favourite of the 3 sites. ”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2015 NEW

Out of the 3 neighbouring sites (others being the Forum and the Colosseum) Palatine Hill was the one I enjoyed the most. It may not have the same visual impact of the other two, but it has a much more relaxed atmosphere.

You don't have to wait in a big line to get in, and the people around you seem calmer. Once in it is a large site that was green and cool when I visited (Feb 2015) but in the Summer I would be sure to bring some sun protection and water. There are fountains to fill bottles.

Another point to note is that it is a hilly area and had a fair few stairs. Still the lack of rush means you can take your time to work your way up there. Plenty of signage in Italian and English offering information about what you are seeing.

Highly recommended - even if you race through (would be a shame though) it allows you to skip the lines at the other venues.
