“The best Roman Paintings”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

On the top floor of the Palazzo Massimo are paintings from very early Roman buildings, notably Livia's villa on the Via Flammina. These have the same quality as the ones at Pompeii or Herculaneum. There are also rooms full of mosaics.

“Lots of mosaics and frescos in this Termini area museum...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

The location is a bit odd as is the space. But if you're visiting Crypta Balbi, you'll get a combined ticket includes this, the Baths of Diocletian, and the Palazzo Altemps.

Highlights of the Palazzo Massimo:

Frescos from House of Livia
Hermaphrodite Marble Statute - make sure you look from front and back
Crouching Aphrodite

You'll not be disappointed and can be done in an hour or so...

“Amazing statues”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2013

Don't miss this museum, particularly for three amazing statues: the Discus Thrower and two monumental bronzes. Don't neglect the Baths of Diocletian across the road, included (with two other museums) in the entrance fee.
