Definitely worth the price and 5 star rating. Spacious and comfortable room, decent bathroom and high speed internet access from room (not cheap - 10 euros per hour and 22 euros per day). Excellent buffet breakfast and poolside tables available. Pool was nice too though I didn't actually use it. Poolside restaurant at night a bit expensive and the food was not impressive at all. Didn't get the chance to try the rooftop fine-dining place but heard the view was impressive, not sure about the food. Up the hills so prepare to pay 6-10 euros to and from city. For those we need to go back to the hotel to take a break in the afternoon or want to get home without hassle late night, this is probably not a very ideal place. Free hotel shuttle runs every hour to/from Barenini (near Spanish steps) but the last one leaves at 8pm from there. I had the experience of arriving 5 min before 7pm and couldn't find the shuttle. I called the hotel and was asked to wait there for a few minutes. I ended up waiting there for 25 min then to find out the shuttle was already gone the first time I called. I took a taxi and complained to the front desk. They reimbursed me the taxi fares and I did push for further explanations as the driver was very nice guy and I don't want to get him into trouble. Hope they communicate better through mobile phones going forward! Staff service was professional but not warm/friendly. Overall, not the most convenient location but the hotel was nice.

I am a diamond member with Hilton and have thus stayed at many. Many aspects of this Hilton was the best tht I have experienced. Regarding the earlier review that totally bashed this facility, I have to say that I agree the prices are ridiculously high, but this hotel deserves to be noted for the positives as well - There are many. We were on the executive floor, so we didn't get nickle and dimed the way others do, so please keep that in mind.

When we first arrived, we were escorted to the executive lounge and then given a full tour of the facilities. The executive lounge is the best you will ever see in any hotel. It is comfortable, offers a wonderful view overlooking the city (probably the best in Rome) and offers spectacular food and service all day long.

The rooms are fantastic. You will not believe how comfortable the beds are (however, the top sheet was quite rough, we kept taking it off at night). There are automatic blings with a switch next to the bed so if you want to sleep in or take a nap you can close out every bit of light. The rooms are quite large and in comparison of other hotels we stayed at in Italy, they were very large.

The spa does cost extra unless you are on the executive floor, but the facilities are wonderful. There is a wonderful pool with a whirlpool that has a nice waterfall flowing into it. The saunas and hottup area is just great. There's a cold (and I mean cold) plunge pool right inside the steam room. It take some nerve to take the plunge, but what a great feeling when you do and then lie back in the steam.

The hotel will arrange anything you need, from tours, dinner reservations, transportation or any type of travel - there is an onsite travel agent that can book trains or anything you need.

The professionalism of the staff was bar none. You will have a difficult time finding a hotel with a better staff.

I guess that I should finish by saying that I am not an easy critic - I usually find something to complain about. I really cannot find anything wrong with the Cavalieri Hilton. I would return in a heartbeat.

By far one of the best hotels in Europe. Luxurious, comfortable yet very personal, with service given by staff who are polite courteous and always concious of the fact that you are a guest and your satisfation is paramount.
We stayed for 5 days in August 2005 for my wifes birthday and the hotel made it a birthday to remember providing flowers and chocolates on our return from the city on the afternoon of my wifes birthday. The facilities are excellent as is the dining experience in any one of the 5 restaurants on site. Every member of staff we encountered were a pleasure to interact with and fell over themselves to ensure we had a fabuluos stress free experience. The rooms are beyond comparison with wonderful Roman decor, the hotel decor is stunning and filled with artwork making every moment a pleasure.

This is the best hotel in Rome. Sure, it's not cheap, but it isn't a travelodge either. It was worth the expense for the standard of service alone.

The suite we had overlooked Rome and was of a high standard, as was the totally marble bathroom. Maid service was excellent.

Dining was good in the downstairs restaurant, and breakfast was excellent. The La Pergola restaurant is certainly worth its Michelin stars and again, the service was sublime, with the staff attentive but not intimidating.

The bottom line is, I would stay there again.

This is an opulent, luxury hotel with fantastic views nestling in the hills above Rome. Child-friendly including have inter-connecting rooms. The free-shuttle bus into Rome is a great boon, however it can get busy, so turn up for the bus early to avoid being left off. Unfortunately the last bus leaves central Rome at 2000 in the evening - far too early.

The outdoor swimming pool is large and unheated, so it can be a bit of a shock when you get in, even in August. However it is nice to be able to come back from a hot day in Rome and being able to have a swim.

The breakfast buffet is fantastic. The range of options is very extensive, including a sushi option.

The ouch? Everything other than the room rate (inclusive of breakfast), is outrageously over-priced. This starts with the towels by the pool, the umbrella charge and extends to the food and drinks such as coffee and bar snacks. Once they have you with a good rate at the hotel their goal is to make their profits from you through the extras.

Would I stay there again? Absolutely, but I wouldn't eat or drink there, there are far more fairly priced places in Rome.
