My husband and I just spent our 10 year wedding anniversary in Italy and spent 4 days in Rome. We rented an apartment in Trastevere and were so glad. Within a few minutes walk from our place, there were hundreds of bars, cafes and restaurants.Fun little market for food every day on one of the plazas. Great night life and fun to just walk around an people watch. We ate dinner here every night. Was great to end the day close by to our apartment. The only downside I would say is that there is no Metro stop so if you don't want to walk, you have to learn which buses to take. That being said, I love to walk. We walked everywhere, even to the Piazza de Spagna. It took us about 20-30 minutes to walk to the Coliseum. Bring really comfortable shoes (like tennis shoes). I was trying to be more fashionable and did not bring tennis shoes for the daytime and that was a mistake.
