“Charming, Great location. Very Nice!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2015

Paid a little extra for a "Superior Room" we had a queen sized bed, TV, coffee station and a lovely bathroom. Fantastic location, round the corner from a lot of really nice restaurants and a fantastic ice cream parlour. Breakfast was in a different building a 5 minute walkaway, which was unexpected, but not a problem. The breakfast was a continental buffet, was sufficient for what we needed before heading to other places for the day. On a clear day at breakfast, the view is AMAZING from the rooftop terrace! Room service was every day and bedding changed every other day and towels the same. Overall very nice!

We spent 5 lovely nights in this place. It is in a great area close to all main attractions. The room was really large and newly decorated. Very quiet. Like home from home. The rooms had a modern shower with 2 shower heads, safe and lockable wardrobes. It was a real find for us. This is really not a hotel but suites. We loved the decor . Entering the place it did seem very odd and there isn't a reception. We did not have any instructions on how to find the place or what we shoud do. You need to go to the sister hotel first and they will take you there it a 5 minute walk. We buzzed the door and waited for someone to arrive . We did not see staff unless we need something and they were very good and helpful answering any questions. There is a coffee machine in the room but I wished I had taken my kettle as we could not drink the coffee nor do they provide cups, just plastic ones . They provide ample supplies of shower soaps etc. I really give this 5 stars and would stay again as it is so convenient for the tourist sites with close by bus stops and taxi rank .
I would have like more information in the room regarding tourist information, bus stop and lines etc. As it was for New Year information about the activies would have been really useful. We also need information about the central heating because we had a remote for heating, radiators that were not needed and underfloor heating! We could not turn it off, up or down.
There isn't any satellite tv but it is not needed as Italian tv shows films and programmes in English.

You are 5 minutes from the sister hotel were they serve a small but ample breakfast. The breakfast room is on the 5 floor of the sister hotel and had great views over Rome but it was very cramped and crowded. We did not always eat there.

We suggest you taxi direct from Fiumicino as it is the quickest and cheapest way. You have to pay tourist when you arrive of €3.50 per person per night which on top of the taxi journey added another £100 on the outward journey and we had to return via taxi again another €48 so take this on board.

Room Tip: we had room 1 . it was really quiet looking over the back of the hotel. no view but really quiet.

i come reguralrly to Rome for business and always choose some new place to sleep.
This place is very good located close to Navona quare.
This old house has also an elevator, that is very unusual in the centre of Rome.
Rooms are deorated in an old style and they are very nice, even if my room was quite small.
Anyway, especially for nightlife lovers this is a perfect spot - all the great bars and restaurants are in this area!

Average rating is due to street noise - inside rooms are quieter. There is a night club across the small street that doesn't not open till 9pm or so and plays very loud Euro techno pop. Stays open till 2am on weekdays, 4am on weeknights. The patrons stand in the street to smoke and laugh. You get to hear everyone laughing and talking while you try to sleep.

Except for the nightclub this hotel has much to offer for the price. I have been to Rome a few times before and I enjoyed staying here. It was very clean and bright. Its location is in walking distance to every major attraction: Campo de' Fiori, St. Peter's, Piazza Navona, Colosseum, Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Trevi and more. The street in front is a happening place with many different establishments with great food on offer. It was fun trying the different establishments and we were never disappointed by the food.

The hotel is tricky to find, but look at the pictures on their website. Our taxi driver stopped at the address number, shrug his shoulders, but sure enough the front door look like their pictures. There is a doorbell on the right side of the door that rings the hotel desk. They will buzz you in, walk until you see a gray metal door to the right of the stairs. This is the elevator. You can take the steps but with luggage you might want to take the lift to the 5th floor. The hotel consists of 2 converted flats with 5 - 6 rooms each on the forth and fifth floors of a 15th c. renaissances building. It is NOT a full service hotel - you are not paying for one. The desk is only manned a few hours each day and during room cleaning each morning.

Our room was very large with a great new, very clean bathroom and wonderful tub. Comfortable bed and perfect wifi. The room had great air conditioning, a coffee maker (pod) and had a refrigerator. The two cleaning guys in the morning are very sweet and helpful as they can be. They will let you know when someone will be at the desk during the day. And when the desk person is there, they are equally helpful. In fact, Veronica encouraged us to visit their full service hotel for breakfast or if we needed something when the desk was not manned. We never did visit the other hotel but we appreciated knowing we could if desired. Breakfast is served at the desk, you go pick it up and take it to your room. They had typical continental offerings - think Italian Hampton Inn minus the eggs and waffles -- Bread, croissants, jam, honey, butter, milk, yogurt, juice, fruit and cereal. Enough to get you started.

Our room could use a language rack or extra table and a few more drinking cups. We had a couch and coffee table but ended up using these for our luggage. Our coffee cups would disappear each day and I would have to go find some laying about in the hall for afternoon tea. A small annoyance, nothing more.

There is a nice grocery store next door for gathering picnic food, wine, drinks etc. We picked up extra juice, water, fruit and wine for our room so the grocery store was very convenient.

Room Tip: Ask for a room not on the street or bring ear plugs!

We cannot begin to let you know about all the challenges there, we made a terrible mistake, please do not make our same mistake. Fantastic pictures of someone's room on the internet, definitely not ours, staff... what staff, location, yes close to Plaza Navonna and some very nice little restaurants.
This is not a Four Star Hotel

Room Tip: Look else where, use as last resort

Dear Ms H&V,

We really apologize for the inconvenience occurred to you.

Concerning the housemaid in charge at Navona Governo Vecchio, it was is second day working, so we suppose he was not accustomed to tidy up the rooms.

For this reason we have already taken a disciplinary action.

We would like to underlline that we are a guest house, and not a four star hotel as you said. Not all the rooms have street view, some of this have a courtyard view.
As your remember we have also changed your room the next day, giving you the room Orsina and refound you the first night accomodation in Matilde.

Best Regards
Il Burcardo

We booked this at the very last minute and it was the perfect location for seeing Rome - a few minutes from Piazza Navona and about 5 minutes to the Pantheon.

The staff were great and kindly let us leave our bags several hours prior to checking in so we could explore. Our room was certainly eclectic, on the second floor there seems to be a Shakespearean theme! However, it was a lovely room, really big, comfy bed, great modern bathroom and actually exceeded our expectations.

Breakfast is served in the corridor, the idea being you take the food back to your room. They had a good selection of croissants, fruit, yoghurt etc.

NB The hotel is not obvious from the street. You need to look for the building number and then ring a bell on the right and confirm your name before being let in. We wandered around aimlessly initially!

Great find, highly recommended.

We stayed in this little hotel in September 2013. It's just a few rooms on the 5th floor (with brand new elevator) of an apartment building. There is essentially no sign and the rest of the building is just apartments. You won't really get much for interaction with hotel staff, so that can be a little tricky, but what little interaction we had was very nice. They asked us what we wanted for breakfast in the morning and brought us a tray of croissants & cappuccino! The rooms are very charming and clean. The bathrooms are new-ish and clean. I've read other reviews about people staying at some other location, etc. but we didn't have any problems. If you're checking in at a weird time, you might want to make prior arrangements, as I said there are only 5-6 rooms so they don't really staff the front desk. LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!!!! This neighborhood is hands down the most charming neighborhood in the entire city. There are a couple of charming restaurants downstairs and up and down the narrow Governo Vecchio street are fantastic places to get gelato, pizza, etc (seriously, check Trip Advisor for gelato and pizza and some of the highest rated places are literally steps from this hotel). I also read some other reviews about there being a lot of street noise, but that was the opposite of our experience. We slept with our balcony windows open to the courtyard and it was peaceful. The street Governo Vecchio is a relatively quiet, narrow street.
