“Best way to introduce yourself to Rome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2014

My family of 4 enjoyed 3 separate "semi-private" tours with Walks of Italy in Rome, including the Colosseum/Forum, Vatican museums, and a last-minute customized tour when we realized our 3rd tour itinerary overlapped with the 1st one. We went over spring break and never had more than 8 people in our groups, plus they use quality headsets that come in handy when traversing the more crowded sites/attractions.

Our guides proved knowledgeable and enthusiastic, very patient, and spoke excellent English. They even through in some dinner/ristorante recommendations when asked.

As mentioned above, when we realized our tour selections overlapped significantly, Walks of Italy called and made a special effort to accommodate us, even though it was outside their clear policies. Since we were the only ones signed up for the evening tour, our guide Joseph customized the tour to show us some new areas we would never had explored, including the Jewish "ghetto," and some lovely, small piazzas and churches off the beaten track. They really do go out of their way to ensure you have a quality experience.

I tend not to enjoy group tours, but this was definitely the way to go. Next time we visit Italy, we'll be sure to work with Walks of Italy again. Highly recommended!

“Great guide for a great tour”

Camilla was an excellent tour guide. It was pouring rain (off and on) that day Camilla had a great attitude and soldiered on. She was very knowledgeable and shared many interesting facts during the tour.

“Walk of Italy: Pristine Sistine was Priceless”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 11, 2014

Simply...do this!!! We met our guide, David, at 7:30am at a local café about a block from the entrance to the Vatican Museums. David is a local, spoke absolutely perfect English and was so energetic and excited throughout the entire tour. He made it even more special and meaningful. Our group was just 7 people and the max on just about any tour is 12. We whisked into the museum and within 15 minutes, there we were...in the Sistine Chapel with less than 30 people!

This was my son's first trip to Italy and I wanted something special. To have 20 minutes of solitude in the Chapel before the hoards arrived was, well, priceless. We sat there, just absorbing the beauty...and quiet...of the Chapel. Our tour continued for the next couple of hours and we actually exited through the chapel at around 11am. At this time, it was wall to wall people and, sadly, very noisy.

For the price of this tour, yes, not standing on line is worth it, not having to deal with tickets is worth it, having a guide explain things you would otherwise overlook is worth it. But the value...the more than value...is that "pristine" time with the Chapel, your thoughts and your loved ones.

Again...do this! :)
