“Great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2013

This hotel has everything we need. Nice, decent rooms, safe deposit large enough for 13" laptop, good WiFi, quiet and clean rooms and everything on great location, close to Republica metro station and main station Termini where you can get almost any line in Rome. Termini is also convenient to get to/from airport.

Breakfast is also very nice for its 10 EUR price. Usually for the breakfast in hotels you get the filter coffee, but coffee machine in IQ will make you espresso or cappuccino as well. After all, you are in Rome.

Room Tip: There are two types of rooms, with backyard view and street view. Rooms with backyard are always in...

Just back from a trip to Rome and can't praise this hotel highly enough. All the staff are friendly and helpful nothing is too much trouble. Centrally located with plenty of eating places in the area. There is Loads of choice in the breakfast room and the roof terrace is an oasis of calm after a busy day sightseeing. If I ever return to Rome I would only stay here!

Room Tip: Our room was on the fifth floor adjacent to the roof terrace and breakfast room and we never heard a...

Good, clean, modern hotel. Rooms were a good size for Rome, however the bed is a little hard and yes they do not turn on the ac during cool temperatures. We called the first night we got there and they said it takes 24 hours for the cycle to turn off the heat and turn on ac however the 4 nights we stayed there they never turned it on. It was way too noisy to sleep with the windows open so we just slept with it closed. Other then that room was very clean and staff were very helpful. Also a good location just 2 blocks away from the metro as we used it to get everywhere in the city. Beware when using the metro! An older lady standing next to me on the metro took advantage of the metro being so packed ahe opened my purse even though i was holding it in front of my body! Luckily I caught it before she could take anything.

Centrally located, easy walking distance to both main railway and metro. Many of attractions within walking distance and Vatican City accessible via metro. Modern immaculate hotel with helpful and friendly staff. Rooms spacious and bathrooms large and well equipped. Excellent breakfast terrace and roof terrace for chilling out and enjoying bottle of wine at the end of the day.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with balcony.

This hotel is in a perfect location, close to all the major attractions (Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Forum, Colosseum, Palentine Hill, etc). If you love walking, this is the perfect location. The metro stop is 200 meters from the hotel and the Termini Station is only one stop away. If you want to save a few dollars, you can take the bus from the airport to Termini and then hop the metro total cost will be around $10. If you want to get straight to the hotel, you can take a cab for about 48 euro ($53) or take the hotel cab for $105 round-trip. The hotel is very clean, and has a great breakfast for 10 euro/person which I recommend, especially if you like 2-3 cappuchinos before starting your day! The bathrooms are big and modern, and the rooms are simple. Don't expect luxury, but the rooms are big and comfortable for Rome, but hey, who's going to spend all day in their room while in Rome?? The Vatican is about 4 metro stops away and definitely worth it. As mentioned, get your tickets on line in advance and save standing in line. If you're there for 3 or more days, get the Roma pass. It gets you into a lot of the museums and is good for the Colosseum, Forum and Palentine Hill. It also gives you free use of the metro, bus and tram lines. We spent 4 nights in the hotel and total cost was $1200 for 2 adults and our son who stayed in the room with us. This also included breakfast. Sure you can find cheaper, but you'll either stay further away from the center or the place may not be the cleanest. iQ served us well.

We wanted a hotel close to the centre, so that it was possible to walk to the main sights. The iQ Hotel Roma was one of several that we looked at, but we chose this one because of the modern nature and we were not disappointed. Rooms were clean and of a good size and the bathrooms are quite large for a capital city hotel but, more importantly, clean and fresh, sparkling white tiles with no mould. The vending machines are a great idea, but different floors have different products. Fortunately on our floor we had coffee machine and soft drinks, sandwiches, confectionary. The cappuccino was surprisingly good! The buffet breakfast on the top floor with terrace was good, EUR 10, for breads, cakes, fruit, yoghurts, juices, hams, cheeses as well as hot food. The hotel is opposite the Teatro dell'Opera with some good restaurants within a few hundred metres. The Victor emanuel monument is 10 minutes walk, Colosseum/Roman Forum is 15 minutes walk. Spanish steps closer to 30 minutes walk and the furthest out is the Vatican, 45 minutes walk or - EUR 10 cab ride (which we chose as we had walked ourselves out).

Good hotel as walking distance to everything. Rather expensive for what it is though. Very basic, comfy bed but small room. Bathroom nearly the same size as bedroom. Shower is brilliant! Vending machines all over the hotel with drinks which is excellent.

Would stay again if this place was cheaper. Over £100 a night for something so basic seems a little much.

Dear guest,

Thank you for sharing your experience at the iQ Hotel.

We are happy to know that some of the aspects of our quirky style have appealed to you, such as the handy vending machines or our modern and comfortable facilities. Allow us to clarify the singularities of our hospitality that might not have been fully grasped.

Our hotel is a fairly recent structure, with a contemporary look, quite different from what you would expect to find in downtown Rome. Our mission is to provide smart, state-of-the-art accommodation, in a central location, minus the hefty price-tag. When planning our rooms, we decided to create such a range that would cater to the different demands of an heterogeneous clientèle. So, we have Small Double rooms, thought for the single traveller or younger couples, who rater pay less for their lodging and still enjoy our prime location and modern facilities. But we also have Classic Double, Twin, Triple and Family rooms, with the obvious differences in sizes. Although we are unable, at this point, to know what room type you stayed in, we can assure you that all room sizes and features are illustrated with actual square meters and pictures, in our website and all sales channels where we are present, so guests can choose what room type better suits their needs.

We believe in tailor-made holidays, in giving our guests the possibility to choose what is really important to them while staying in a hotel and what is superfluous. Why paying for services you will never use, when we guarantee you full access to those that are essential, such as free Wi-Fi, a fitness area, the vending machines or a lovely terrace overlooking the Opera House?

Regarding the prices, we follow the market trends. As we all know, Rome is one of the most visited cities in the world, which leads to an inevitable rise in room rates, especially during the high-season and when comparing it to other European capitals.

We do know that we are different from other hotels in Rome. Our concept is innovative and bold and we don’t look classic, but those guests who choose us and appreciate all we offer - a clean, modern hotel with multilingual friendly staff and a no non-sense approach to hospitality – do feel they are getting great value for money and would stay with us again.
