After looking at reviews of the hotel, and it coming into our budget for our stay in Rome, we booked the IQ Hotel. We planned our journey from the train station and it takes 7 / 8 minutes. We were greeted by 2 helpfull guys on reception, who checked us in, provided us with a tourist map and gave us room 418. Reception area and route to room via staff lift (our mistake) was impressed by how clean and modern the hotel was. Our room was fantastic, balcony over the opera house, deep bath and comfortable surroundings. Wireless internet (which was important to gadget owners like us) was working, great to send and receive emails. First night, we sampled the roof terrace and the vending machines. The roof terrace was fantastic, covered and heated if you wanted or just covered with great sofas and chairs. Went for a bottle of Frascati (5 euros) and Ritz cheese biscuits (1 euro). Where in London, for example can you sit on a roof terrace with a bottle of wine at that price ? The hotel offers breakfast at 10 euros, a mixture of meats, pastries, fruit, bacon, scrambled eggs, coffee and juice. Good value and great way to start the day.
Hotel location is excellent for exploring. Turn left out of hotel, right at end if street and you get to the underground (Repubblica) in 3 / 4 minutes. Buy a day pass (6 euros) to travel to where you need to go. We found this the best way to travel and your legs / feet will thank you for it.
To summerise, hotel is a great price for its location, close to railway station, close to underground station, comfortable rooms, great vending machines, lovely roof terrace and you can get a Nespresso coffee in reception. Its modern, clean, wireless Internet and plesant staff. Highly reconmend !!!
